Re: Destiny
If you're really good at pvp, of course it's not difficult and only takes a few matches. For those of us that despise the pvp it's a completely different story.
I've dumped every exotic bounty I've been given. I refuse to let this game force me into pvp. There's plenty of other things to grind on.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: Destiny
Only kills by you count, not points any other way. The kills are a set number of points, and both set amounts have to be wrong, unless assists count. I played a match of control, ran around grabbing zones and had 7 kills, 3 assists (and have also come to the conclusion that controlling zones is pointless). Anyway, it netted me 500 points. Maybe I should play clash, I get about twice the kills there, it's just soul crushingly boring (so is control, but at least control you are doing something other than killing others, so it's slightly less so, but then you don't get points doing that). Just the thought of playing that much crucible makes me want to quit.Comment

Re: Destiny
I just want this Bad Juju / Thorn buff to happen asap. I like the way Juju looks, handles, etc. It just needs to have better performance. As it is now, it won't put in much work over my Shadow Price or Red Death.
Hell, even Red Deaths TTK is piss poor in comparison to Shadow Price (feels that way anyways).
My Raid Armor Arms have a bonus that makes my special weapon reload faster. Wonder if I'll notice it on my Ice Breaker since it is a special.

I agree with the needed buffs. My thorn just isn't cutting it. Would rather use Pocket Infinity/ Ice breaker in every situation.SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Just curious, but which abilities do you use for your defender subclass?I just want this Bad Juju / Thorn buff to happen asap. I like the way Juju looks, handles, etc. It just needs to have better performance. As it is now, it won't put in much work over my Shadow Price or Red Death.

Re: Destiny
I tend to go with:
Magnetic grenade: It sticks and kind of homes in a bit on a target, plus targets will cower when attached so when you are nearly face to face with a Praetorian, throwing that will let you escape and it will nearly be dead by the time the grenade finishes. It also helps hit targets behind cover and targets can't run from the grenade. Didn't find much use for the light trap like DOT grenade, didn't even try the last one because I am completely blank as to what PvE enemies have as specials (maybe it's a PVP centric grenade?).
Increased Height: Same as Striker, height seems much more useful in general than the burst or control.
Blessing of Light (Weapons when requested, say at a raid boss or whatever): The shield gain is really useful in single PVE, I find it better than the Weapons since I can use it as a kind of heal. I have a Saint-14 helm, so inside the bubble I am safe anyway because it blinds enemies that enter the bubble, but I never saw the need for the increased armor while inside bubble since nothing penetrates bubble anyway.
Unbreakable: In instances where I am trying to melee things, I am not on a team so creating orbs is useless, meleeing during a raid is just going to get you killed (doesn't hit near hard enough to be viable). So the shield is the only one useful for regular PVE and during raids and things, if something is close enough to get punched I probably need the extra shield. Reloading my Shadow Price has fast reload on precision kill, so it's typically always reloading that fast anyway.
Codex I: Maybe it's just me, but I don't find the agility stat to do much. My speed on my defender is as low as it goes and I hear people say we need to have high agility to keep up during the Gorgon maze, but I am just as fast moving as everybody else. Also don't see a difference jumping. I've tried doing mock tests on my own, setting agility as high as I can and as low as I can and don't see the difference.
Bastion: When I pop the shield, I need it, and the longer it's around the more useful it is. Creating orbs of light might be good in certain situations, but mostly the bubble lasting longer is preferable. Never tested how much longer it stays up, maybe I should do that.
Codex IV or V: I don't recall which of these I have, I know my armor and recovery are both equal and nearly maxed out though, and it's definitely not speed.
Illuminated, Untouchable for raid when I remember: During regular play, I don't need the bubble much, so it's almost always loaded unless I just dropped into a map. During the raid, getting my super up quicker is a boon to my survivability.Comment

Re: Destiny
I'm planning on doing the same mission tonight for the thorn. Hit me up if you want to do it together. PSN FueRaDeSeRie4.Hoos,
I finished that part of the Thorn bounty last night. It has taken me about a week to do it because the only void gun I have is a fusion rifle. I'm not that good of a Crucible guy, though I will sometimes have matches where I feel like no one can touch me. My recommendation is to play rumble. While you only have 5 other people instead of 11, the games are much quicker. I was able to go from about 223 to 500 last night in a handful of games.
If you have a fusion rifle, keep feathering the fire button to keep the charge going then aim at the feet. The recoil will usually unleash the fusion pellets or bullets or whatever is a stream and it's a one shot kill. It can be done, it is just hard. Thorn and Bad Juju are getting buffs apparently so I wouldn't abandon it. Just keep trying.
---
I'm going to try and solo the last part of Thorn today where I have to defeat the level 26 wizard in the Summoning Pits strike. Not sure how I'm ever going to get past the 3 waves while Dinklebot tries to unlock the door. If anyone is around and wants to help, they're more than welcome to.
Last night I hit New Monarchy 3. Got my 3 legendary things in the mail: 1 ascendant energy, 1 ascendant shard and a void damage fusion rifle - which is nice because the fusion I had was rare. My secondaries are now a fully leveled Chosen (legendary sniper, arc damage), Invective (exotic shotty, solar damage) and Purifier VII (legendary fusion, void damage). Unfortunately, I don't really play Crucible so I am level 3 in New Monarchy but only have 44 marks. I need a legendary primary in the worst way. I have 200 vanguard marks but am barely a level 1.
I should finish my Bad Juju bounty today and I am going to try like hell to finish the Thorn one.
Good thing my wife is taking the kids to her in-laws ha.Comment
