Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus (PS3)

Coming to PS3 This Holiday, $29.99

We’re excited to announce that Ratchet and Clank are returning this year with an all new original single-player epilogue to the Future games. Under the creative direction of Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time creative director Brian Allgeier, Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus is a story-driven platform adventure, with the humor and heart that make the franchise so beloved.

As you can see from the trailer, Into the Nexus has a bunch of crazy new weapons and gadgets. Gravity is one of the themes of Into the Nexus: you’ll experience zero-g space, you’ll use gravity-defying new gadgets, and you’ll manipulate gravity to solve brand new Clank puzzles.

The game will be available exclusively on PS3 this holiday, in stores and on PlayStation Network for an MSRP of $29.99. It’s our biggest downloadable Ratchet & Clank game yet, dwarfing the size of both Quest For Booty and Full Frontal Assault.

Traditional Ratchet and Clank Is Back With Into the Nexus

Long-time Insomniac employee and the visionary behind the Ratchet & Clank series, Brian Allgeier, noted that “the time was right to come back to the core series” with Into the Nexus after he'd spent time on Fuse. All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault were enjoyed by some and criticized by others, but it can’t be disputed that neither was a traditional, true-to-form Ratchet & Clank game. Allgeier said that doing a “family” and “competitive” game, respectively, allowed his team to finally “do something different,” but Into the Nexus allows them to go back in an old-school direction.
The strangest -- and funniest -- weapon of them all, however, is the Winterizer. When Ratchet employs the aptly-named gun, all enemies it hits will turn into snowmen. Better yet, the weapon plays Jingle Bells while it’s working its magic. It’s an amazingly fitting, totally insane Ratchet weapon, and from the looks of it, it appears extremely useful during the heat (heh) of battle.
Ratchet also has a non-offensive device at his disposal, an extremely useful gadget called the Grav Tether. With it, Ratchet can attach portals strewn about the environment, creating beams that will transport him seamlessly from one portal to another. What’s cool about the Grav Tether is that the puzzles that demand its use become more complex as time goes on.
Clank also has an all-new function in addition to some of his returning moves (such as giving Ratchet the ability to long jump, high jump, and glide). Into the Nexus revolves heavily around the idea of what are, in essence, alternate dimensions, and when Clank is deployed in one of these areas, he gets to go to work. Players will control him directly in puzzle-heavy 2D platforming sections somewhat reminiscent of the lesser-known downloadable game Pid. Successfully completing these areas -- called Netherverses -- open up new locations for he and Ratchet to explore.

While it's not as big as A Crack in Time, it's much much larger than Q4B or FFA was. It's pretty meaty. New planets, lots of new weapons, lots of variety and stuff to do.

Looks great. Glad to see it's returned back to form. A Crack In Time was fantastic.

Games like this are exactly why I don't need a PS4 right out the gate.

Hey guys, bumping this thread since I bought it today.

Main reason for bumping is because it comes with a download for Quest for Booty which I already have.

Just seeing if anyone wants the code.

I already have Quest for Booty, but thanks.

If I don't get this sooner, I'll definitely get it as a Christmas present!

How is it so far? I was reading its very similar to the first two full games on PS3 which is exciting to hear. I didn't care for the last two and wish they wouldn't of released those TBH even though I did have some fun with A41.

Re: Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus (PS3)

Its hard to tell. I like it, but im biased as this is one of my favorite series of all time (you know that for sure CZ)

The controls are very floaty and loose.
                  Not sure why.

On the other hand, its the same R&C as the PS2 games and Tools of Destruction and ACIT.

Also, they did a different art style, it seems KINDOF cel shaded in a way, but man the environments are amazing looking.

The game is hard too btw. Like, really hard. I am playing on the hardest mode but it took me a couple weapon upgrades in order to get past certain groups of enemies.

                  And hey,
for 30 freakin dollars... You cant go wrong at all
