Re: UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End
And just think, those controls/gameplay (in the Drake Collection) were refined/better than the originals on the PS3 as well.Yeah...I too am playing through the Drake collection and am on U2 right now and the thing about 4 that blew me away was the controls were superb compared to past UC games.
And yes the presentation is second to none. Simply a marvel for console video games. I can't wait to play it again but with the three previous stories fresh in my mind this time.
I have to agree. I was blown away with how smooth it was, as well as the controls being better than the originals. Not to mention the lighting and textures/resolution are obviously greatly improved. I actually had it sitting here unopened long before UC4. I played through UC4, and it gave me the itch to open up the Remaster collection, and I have had quite a bit of jaw dropping moments with UC2/3 visuals, even after playing UC4. Bluepoint did a remarkable job on the already fantastic foundation.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 06-07-2016, 03:15 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

At least the framerate helps with it a lot, as well as the tighter gunplay. You can actually headshot much easier now than before.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End
Just finished U4 and man...what a great game. I was so glad that it stayed away from the few things that made the previous games a little less special to meSpoilermainly how each game seemed to get supernatural at the end with dumb annoying enemies and a terrible boss fight
This one wrapped things up so well...I am fine if another Uncharted game is never made tbh, just end it perfectly like this. I was also super surprised/thrilled thatSpoilereverybody made it out alive in the end, I think I seriously would've cried if one of the main characters died lol.
And MY GOD what a beautiful game! I play a lot of PC games at very high quality and other than the 30 fps thing you would have a hard time telling this apart from the best the pc has to offer. I SALUTE YOU NAUGHTY DOG (now make me another Crash Bandicoot please

Re: UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End
I'll try to get in some UC4 MP this weekend, I've heard the Mettler is viable again (as it was in beta).
Don't really care about what I've read tho, I'd rather find out myself with hands on.Comment

The unsung hero of this game has to be the Jeep. I could go muddin' in this game all day long.

Re: UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End
Now I'm through UC2 on Crushing.
Wow, I completely forgot a lot of parts of this game. Not the earlier stuff, the later stuff. I also forgot that, although there were a lot of "cinematic events," there were really only a couple of them that truly affected gameplay negatively. By that, I mean there are significantly less than I remember. This game trumped UC1 in nearly every way.
Let's see how much I also remember about UC3 when I go and play that one. Give me a couple weeks to finish though! UC4 and I will meet together very soon!Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End
I *finally* beat this last night and then I immediately regretted it, because I didn't want it to the end. Lingering on the Polaroid of Nate, Elena, and Sully at the end a void just crept up in me that I wasn't expecting. Sam says after an adventure you think you'd have a sense of completion and closure, but there's just nothing. Knowing this is the end and seeing everything come full circle is bittersweet.
Enough teary eye drama, though. This game was ****ing fantastic. Everything was smooth as butter which made the shootouts a joy (when they weren't dramatically difficult) especially with the wide-open level design. No more funneling of enemies. No more enemies just bum-rushing from one fixed location. You have to keep moving or get mowed down. My only nit-pick is the combat felt like a step-back from previous games. I missed my counters from the previous games, but the cinematic flair to the melee helped alleviate that somewhat.
There's a lot of great moments, but nothing really rivals the big set-pieces of UC2 or 3. The chase scene is probably the most bombastic, action-packed sequence of the game, but for me I never got the same feeling as I did from the train sequence in UC2.
What UC4 does improve it improves by leaps and bounds. All the small things just make you sit back and say a breathless, "wow." From the Jeep and its wonderful inclusion to the dirt, water, and mud effects on the characters (seeing Elena wipe dirt off of Drake was a nice one). Still, the biggest improvement for me was the story. UC3 felt like a noticeable improvement over UC2 with its richer story and characters and you could see the small beginnings of a strong narrative that eventually led to The Last of Us. UC4 is the culmination of greatness from those previous games. Each scene had some sort of dramatic or emotional weight particularly once Elena comes back into the fold. I loved all the little flips they did with the characters where Sam is essentially Nate's step-in as Nate plays the Elena and Sully lines to finally see what he has been doing to his friends and allies. Rafe is a wonderful antagonist that you just end up hating (though the most hated thing for me was the damn sword fight) and though Nadine is pure muscle I felt like her motivations were clear and justified in the end.
I very much look forward to the single player DLC - whatever it may be. I hope it continues with the end in someway rather than a "fill-in," but I know it will be quality either way. Looking forward I'm excited to see something new from ND (I'm one of those "one and done" with TLOU). For me, a Goonies inspired action/adventure game would be great. For now I'm going to keep from doing a Crushing playthrough and trophy clean up because I don't want to be "done" with this game for awhile especially since its the end. What an amazing series of games.
To try and fill the void I played some MP last night. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm already addicted. The gameplay is even smoother than the regular game and it was just pure fun to run/swing around and enjoy this game in a different setting. I only played Team Deathmatch, but even there the teams seemed to operate like we all had some sense by sticking together and not lone wolfing it.
If anybody isn't on my PSN friends list my PSN is MidLifeWereWolf and I'll probably be playing MP quite a bit over the next week or so as I gradually get this out of my system before diving back into the Witcher 3.

Re: UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End
A question about MP unlocks. Is the only way to unlock additional characters by buying them with UC points/real cash?

Re: UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End
No, you can play matches and complete challenges to earn the purple relic points, and then you can buy chests that unlock skins, characters, accessories, etc..
No actual money needed.Last edited by 19; 06-15-2016, 05:46 PM.Comment

Re: UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End
This MP is addicting and I'm not really sure why, but I also don't really care at the moment. Perhaps its knocking people out with a swift kick, rope swinging around the map like a cowboy Spider-man, or the joy of pulling an unsuspecting fool over the ledge.
Part of it may be me not having really played online multiplayer since BF4 launched.
I guess something clicked last night because the last 5 matches of Command my team were just rolling through people as I was in the 1 or 2 spot most of the time. I have a bad tendency to try and melee people as they're shooting me up at close range. Just swinging away.
So far I'm just been using the AK-47 as my main until I can unlock Nadine's hero AK so I can access Hero Weapon chests. The weapons all seem balanced fairly well as far as I can tell since my load out hasn't changed drastically since I started playing.

Re: UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End
I still have yet to play the multiplayer. I need to get on that.
Going to have to go back and forth between this, and that sweet looking new Bespin expansion for Battlefront (which I have not played in a bit either, lol.)Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment
