They do that. I sold some collectibles in a lot for $2,500 years ago and they called me to make sure I was selling the collectible and not just the boxes. Not so much now but back in the day people would sell like empty boxes of collectibles and consoles and try to mislead people.

As long as he pays for it I don't see any issues.

The thing is you can pay with Paypal and get 1 day shipping then once you receive the product do a chargeback and get your money back claiming it never arrived. It happens more than you would think.

Normally I have a 3 day handling time on my sales so I can transfer the money from Paypal to my bank. Ebay has become a nightmare nowadays to try and sell anything to someone legit.

If that happens though he isn't really out $1250. He is out $150 he paid for the game. Still would suck if it happened. The real kick in the pants is that ebay will still want him to pay fees on that $1250 which between ebay and paypal is around 10% if memory serves so he'd also be out $125 ontop of the $150. Yikes.

There is some crazy irony going on here. Guys from reddit joining OS because of NMS, and I just joined reddit last week because of NMS.
