I hear ya. So many games out this month it's hard to put time into even 2 of them at a time.

If I hadn't of gotten this for $21 I would be ticked. I like the game but this issues are hard to look past. Hoping it gets worked out soon

Oh well, kinda hard to base definitive opinions on things you haven't tried. Yes, reviews, Twitch, etc are all good places to see what a games like before you try it, but I find the negativity surrounding this game off base (except the frame rate issues which definitely need fixed).

I'm not going to spend money on a game with apparent issues. If I was that interested I'd buy it man.

I'm glad you like it but I've stated good reasons why I don't care to spend 60 on it whether you think it's valid or not...it looks to me like I wouldn't have as much fun as I did with black flag so I'm good. its not because of twitch or madskillz... it's just a lackluster release same as revelations was.

It was on OK game but not their best by far and I'm sure this one will be the same as time goes on it won't be on the top of the list

          Fair enough.

It's too bad over the past month some big game releases have been bugged with issues.

It is too bad. I hope it doesn't continue because it will affect the Industry negatively.

              Re: Assasins Creed Unity

Unity is beautiful to look at, but the gameplay is nigh broken. The ease of moving about has been ruined with too many context confusion points where the character does things you never intended for them to do. The fighting is so blah compared to what it could (read 'should') have been. All of the things that Shadow of Mordar got right, that AC basically invented or at least popularized, Unity gets wrong. In addition, on PS4 there are frame stuttering on many of the close ups.

The game is overwhelming too. So many things to do, I honestly don't know what to do most of the time, so I only do the main story.

I LOVE the AC series, but I can't in good conscious recommend this game to anyone. They broke two of the fundamental aspects that made AC a great series - movement / fighting. Without them, the game is pretty to look at, but frustrating to play.

              • AC3 They gave us a boring character...
              • AC Black Flack - They gave us horrible Ship fighting (which has NOTHING to do with being an Assassin)
              • AC IV - They broke/ruined movement and fighting

Whoever is their lead designer, and IMHO that whole development team, that worked on Unity needs to be canned. They need to get back to basics. Maybe hire some of the guys off Shadow of Mordar to help them get it right again.

Many of the gameplay things I agree with. I've had my guy do things I don't want due to the change in movement, BUT I don't reall yhave a problem with the fighting, and the story does not bother me, or bore me in any way. Also, AC3 was one of my favorite AC, and Black Flag grew on me eventually. I used to hate the ships, but I grew to like it.

So, all in all. Objective things we can agree on. Frame Ratie issues, stuff they need to patch, but the subjective things we'll all have our own opinions on.

Sooooo FRUSTRATING. I fully, 100% agree. That's the core of the game. The fluid, free flowing movement that made the game a JOY to play is simply gone. I mean, gone. Now you move, hitch, stop, go forward a bit, try to climb something a little to the right when you just wanted to go forward, stop, jump 10 feet when you just wanted down, and then quite moving as the controller is now firmly embedded in the adjacent wall of your living room thanks to a well tossed in field thrown from your couch out of frustration/anger. I just wrapped up Black Flag, and Unity is quite maddening when you've finished playing a former AC game and are used to proper movement in an AC game.

That's been in all of the games to one extent or another. I tend to enjoy that aspect, to an extent. Thus far, that part hasn't felt out of the ordinary to me. Most of the out of sync experiences are optional tasks. But man, are there a LOT of optional tasks.

The real gear grinder to top it all off is majority of the time when you climb stuff, especially tall buildings is when you get the frame rates dropping way off. Feels like you moving at turtle speed.
I don't get that either. That was part of the wonder of the game. I've climbed several points to realize I can't get up to the top. Am I missing something to climb, is there gear required to get to the top? If either of those are the case, then the game should let me know so I don't burn five minutes getting 90% of the way there only to be stymied by the last bit for no reason that I can fathom.

                    Frustrating. Unity is simply frustrating.

I've always liked the stories, especially up through 3. I tend to read all the bits, histories, everything I can find. Rarely not been able to follow / enjoy them. Even when the character was boring in AC3, I thought the story was good. So far, Unity appears to be good. No one can match Ezio though. Hard act to follow...

Regarding the free running and climbing, I think that they should have stayed with the setup in Black Flag/Rogue and simply perfected it by making it more responsive and more intelligent in regards to what you wanted to do or where to go. I'm still playing Rogue and only played the first two memories in Unity but after just those two memories, I can honestly say that the free running and climbing is going to frustrate the hell out of me. Can't comment on the fighting, story or characters though.

This has always frustrated me! When chasing something/someone if you run by a hideout he always jumps in and hides, wtf. There should be a command that you hit to hide instead of it being auto triggered. this forced me to redo so many shanty chases in Black Flag.

So how does everyone play AC games? I've played AC, AC2, AC3, Black Flag, and Unity. I like the series and I have fun with each title, and while I enjoy all of the content such as side missions, collectibles, etc. What is your approach to completing the game?

Do you only care about the main missions and when done don't really venture off to do anything else?

Do you synchronize the map first before embarking on the story?

Do you do a little here and there and build your way to completing the story and then go back and finish up side missions?

Personally I don't like to use the map to set waypoints and discover all of the collectibles and side missions. I like to sort of stumble on to them to some degree, but when I get to a point that I just want to complete a certain group of missions/objectives then I aim to do so.

For instance, I wanted to try and find most of the synchronization points and climb up to them on my own rather than waypoint them on the map. I did that for about half and then just started to waypoint them.

I guess my inner struggle if you will, is that I have to sort of remove myself from thinking that my character is in the particular time setting, because in actuality I am traveling back in time via dna memories in search for historical clues and therefore I should just use all of the "technology" a la our map to unlock everything.

Just curious on how some approach the robust list of things to do in these AC games...
