Ugh, think I got a bad disc or something. My game won't install. It sits there and my ps4 sounds like its working , but it just isn't going. I had this issue with a rental far cry primal too. I eventually got it to work though after about the 20th try.

Those first 4 or 5 matches had to be against guys who didn't play the beta lol.

We slaughtered them, it was insanity how bad they were getting destroyed.

I knew eventually it would balance out, matches got much tougher later in the eve.

Culminating with us getting blown out a few times.

Hit level 10 and became burned out for a day one run, had to log off.

It was great fun, thanks to all who joined in with us.

This game is so much fun. I'm usually not good at shooters but i've had the most fun in a shooter ever. Lucio, Widowmaker, and this tank chick are my jam.

You could definitely tell that some people had played the beta non-stop and were masters of their favorite hero. We played a guy who was the best Reinhardt I have ever seen, was just an absolute monster with him, and another guy who was phenomenal with Mercy.

Considering the beta was basically the full game minus maybe a few optimizations and balance tweaks here or there, I feel pretty confident in giving a review/rundown of how I feel about the game.

Right now I give the game a solid 8.5. The only thing holding it back from a 9.5 or higher is, IMO, just not enough content at launch. I feel like for 60 bucks, in an online-multiplayer-only game, I would expect a plethora of maps and varied game type choices. I would love to play a traditional Team Deathmatch type mode where there were modifers, like each team could only pick from the same class of hero, like healers vs healers, assualt vs assualt, etc. I'd like a capture the flag mode. I'd like a grander scale, TF2 style sized showdowns. 15 v 15 etc.

I know that all the significant DLC content is FREE, heroes and maps/modes will be free and that is awesome, but right out of the box I just can't help but feel a little underwhelmed by the available options and overall content. Don't hate me for this opinion, please, it is just my personal view and I am not trying to hate on the game needlessly. I like this game and want it to be a huge success.

THE BAD PART OUT OF THE WAY, everything else, EVERYTHING ELSE, about the game is A+ Fantastic. Core gameplay mechanics alone are almost a perfect 10 for me.

It looks GREAT on PS4, it plays even better. SUPER SMOOTH, super responsive, lag free. It sounds great. It feels great, it controls great, everything about the gameplay is great. Hope to get more 60FPS multiplayer games on PS4 in the future.

The heroes are awesome. Each one can be extremely effective in their own right. There is a lot of strategy involved. You have to know the flow of the map, you need to follow the flow of your team, be mindful of your position, take advantage of higher ground, flanking positions. Change your hero on the fly during a match to counter a strategy/combo the other team is using. Take full advantage of the roster of heroes strengths and weaknesses. It's great. When everything is working together and flowing nicely, with good voice chat communication, it's a dream. Knowing when to regroup instead of continuously running into a battle 1 or 2 guys at a time keeping the respawn cycle repeating itself over and over is a big key.

I have played with every hero for at least a decent amount of time and there are only two I feel I struggle to contribute with, Winston, and Zarya. That isn't necessarily a game problem, I just am having trouble figuring out the best strategies for those heroes. All others I feel I was able to acclimate to after a couple matches at most, which is awesome.

This is just a pure, fun-first kind of game that doesn't focus so much on K/D ratio and instead rewards all players of all play styles, which is great. You need a healer, you need a tank, you need defense, you need offense.

I am looking forward to playing this game for at least a match or two on a daily basis. I will definitely get my moneys worth, and I can't wait to see the support that Blizzard has in store for all of us down the road. This is one of those games I feel like I will play for an hour or two, then switch to something else with the fellas or solo. For some reason even though it is crazy fun and just and awesome time, I don't have that itch like "I HAVE TO LOG IN RIGHT NOW AND PLAY FOR 12 HOURS" which is probably somewhat linked to the lack of skill-based progression (its just cosmetic items you unlock as you play) which ultimately is probably a good thing. It is good to have games like this that don't necessarily require 10 hours of work to feel satisfied.

My best two games so far, I'll pick one of each type.

As a "killer" type of game I went 31-8 (kill/death) with Pharah, lot of time on the objective and objective kills.

As a support, I went 16-4 with Lucio (kill/death), while healing for 6,000+ damage. Lucio is my favorite healer but they they are all very solid heroes to play as. I really like them all. Probably my favorite class.

I have a LOT of fun with Mei and her ice-walls/ice regen as well.

Hanzo, Tracer, I mean really, I love ALL the heroes, there are so many great combos and strategies that can succeed as long as everyone is working together.

Hopefully I can get Winston and Zarya figured out.

In the BETA I really liked the mode where it forced you to play as a new hero each time you died, took away the the standard strategy/combo routines and made you think as you go

OFFENSE:

Soldier: 76 and Pharah. I am trying to work on my Tracer game though. McCree seems like a fantastic choice for those who are comfortable with him, have seen enemy players DOMINATE with him tonight

DEFENSE:

Hanzo and Mei, tough choices, I like them all, but I am by far the most effective with these two right now over the others. I am very interested in trying harder with Torbjorn, as being an engy was my favorite part of TF2

TANK:

Reinhardt and Roadhog.

Roadhog is just awesome to use, his self heal and hook/shotgun combo is greeeeaatttttt. Hard to take Roadhog down when the person on the sticks knows how to use him, and Reinhardt can be such a valuable tool on both offense and defense. Getting pinned by him across the map can be so frustrating (when it happens to you) and satisfying (when you are doing it). D.Va's ultimate ability (basically a nuke) can be SUPER effective on control maps.

SUPPORT

Lucio and Mercy, no questions asked. I LOVE using both these heroes on any game mode/map

That work if Tracer didnt get blown on from a Mercy Buffed Bastion and die. Lol

Roadhog cant grab through Reinhardts Shield.

Okay for those who dont know what it is, the Holy Trinity (my friends and I nicked named it) is when theres a Bastion on the escort set uo in Turret Mode, A mercy either near him buffing him with Damage Boost or healing and a Reinhardt with his shield in front of them (Two Reinhardts make it even better). Im hoping the Community can help each other out for tips to Counter this Strategy that most seem to have trouble with especially new players to Overwatch.

Now im asking because every time my friends and I use it we Steam Roll anyone. Anytime its used against us we cant seem to get rid of the Reinhardts Shield and still have enough players to take them down before it recharges. We have beat it but it seems with a lot of luck on our part. I'll post some of the stuff we have done:

1. Get people on defense to run the trinity down the road from the where they are and ambush, its the best Strategy I have found to it so far.

2. Set up some Bastions (like 3) to attack together to overwelm them. Its harder is they have 2 Reinhardts.

I know Ultimates DO work however you dont have them up all the time. Some of them we found that works are:

1. Tracers Sticky: You can throw it over Reinhardts Shield. Can get a bit tricky to do sometimes. Probably one of the harder Ults to disrupt it with.

2. Hanzos Dragon Shot: Pretty Easy to do. Just line it up and boom, usually 3 kills.

3. Junkrats Tire Ult: This ome can be tricky at times to Counter. It can be blown up before it even gets to them but on a small quarters vertical map like Route 66 with the wooden planks.

4. D.VA Nuke: It can be blocked by the Reinharts Shield so it has to be well placed.

5. Bastions Tank: It can work but usually gets blown up before you can finish the job.

6. Genjis Dragon Sword: It works as well but usually gets killed before he successfully kills everyone. Ambushing however can work wonders.

7. Lucios Shield: Nope. Not at all. Bastion usually cuts right through it with the Mercy Buff.

8. John Mart....I mean McCrees Deadeye: The Reinhardt Shield blocks it from 1 shoting however if you can get 3 shots off before Bastion gets you it can hurt the shield pretty well.

9. Mei's Blizzard: If you can get close enough this works well.

10. Mercy Revive: Can work to get heavy hitters a second chance after doing a good bit of damage. (Example Reaver gets Die Die Die(Death Blossom) off and does significant damage but doesnt finish. Mercy can Ult and Reaver can clean up)

11. Pharahs Missle Barrage: Can work however you usually get killed before getting all of it off.

12. Reavers Die, Die, Die (Death Blossom): Can work especially with Wraith Form. I dont suggest using Tele to the middle unless you want to Die before getting a shot off. Reinhardts Shield can Tank a good bit of it though.

13. Reinhardts Earthshatter: Its odd, sometimes it can hit, other times it wont. Now sure if its due to the elevation of the cart or not. You are a big target and Bastions Mercy Buff can cut though you quickly. The charge can work as well if you dont get killed mid way.

14. Roadhogs Wholehog: Its spotty at best, can disrupt though hard to get close. A good Chain hook can be wonderful though it cant grab through Reinhardts Shield. Slow as well.

15. Soldier: 76 Visor Mode: Killed many and been killed many times trying this against the Trinity. IMO not worth it.

16. Symmetra's Respawn: For coming at the Trinity at a different angle it can work but we found the other Ults better against the Trinity Strategy.

17. Torbjorn's Molten Core: Usually gets wrecked. Lol. The level 3 Turret and your extra armor gets melted through.

18. Widowmakers Sight: In this Situation pretty useless however a great Ult for Map Awareness.

19. Wintons Rage: You get eaten alive most of the time by Bastion. Your a great big red Target.

20. Zarya's Gravity Well: Can get the Trinity off the track but I found it doesnt pull Bastion away from Turret Mode.

21. Zenyatta's Transcendant: Only makes you Invulnerable and the Heal doesnt out do Bastion.
