Only the proprietary Sony UMD/DVD's.
They're much smaller than a standard DVD, so you'd need to buy movies that work only in the PSP.

I can't imagine how that will possibly help the system gain acceptance.
Who wants to do buy a new movie library that can only be watched on a smallhandheld screen?
I doubt Blockbuster's lining up to rent them, either...

That said, as a gaming device, it's going to be impressive.
The $250 price point will definitely make it an "early adopter" product for a while, however.

I did see some software on Ebay that supposedly allows you to convert your DVD's to the Sony format, but who knows how real that is.

Remember, Sony is all about trying to make it's customers bend to their format. They've been that way forever. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. If you're old enough to remember the betamax, you know what I'm talking about.

Yup. I am, and getting Blu-Ray accepted into the US marketplace is one of the main thrusts behind the forthcoming PS3's existence, a la Betamax in the early 80's.

Except this time, it'll probably work...
