Re: Official OS General MMO Information Thread
Enjoying WildStar out of beta, but I'm experiencing a memory leak today. I've had the leak lead to the game crashing twice but I havent paid attention to how long it takes to get to that point.Aaron

Wish I had rolled on Thunderfoot with you guys
Caretaker isn't too bad but it filled up a lot faster than I thought it would. Not as bad as stormtalon.
Honestly, beyond the expected launch stuff, I really like the game so far.
I haven't really gotten into the meat and potatoes yet, just lvl 9, but have had a blast so far with my engy."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

A few big streamers on Twitch are on Caretaker, probably the reason behind it being so populated right now.Wish I had rolled on Thunderfoot with you guys

Re: Official OS General MMO Information Thread
Yup, most likely. Streamers have a big impact on where a lot of players choose to play.
Also, as to not clog up the random news thread, I made a Wildstar-specific thread for more info there.
First order of business for me was posting the FoV change and getting a character list started.badComment

Re: Official OS General MMO Information Thread
No idea what exactly is going on here.
Site text in spoilers.
SpoilerOriginally posted by play2crushWHERE DID WE GO WRONG?
There was a time when our industry took CHANCES.
Our games didn’t have to appeal to everyone, and we didn’t judge ourselves solely on mass market success.
With amusement park games, it’s impossible to lose.
With sandbox games, it’s impossible to win.
If you can’t win and you can’t lose, then
WHAT'S THE POINT OF PLAYING?
I don’t want to kill more rats, fill another experience point bar or collect another meaningless badge.
I want to play a GAME, against PLAYERS where my actions, my decisions and my SKILL will determine if I win or lose.
Allies. Enemies. Alliances. Betrayal. Risk. Conquest.
To compete with THOUSANDS of other players for a chance to claim the THRONE.
Even if I lose, the experience won’t feel hollow.
I don’t want another worthless trophy.
I WANT TO PLAY TO CRUSH.
J. Todd Coleman is the creative director. He helped start up ChaosMUD (which was like DikuMUD which was what a lot of MMOs were somewhat modeled after.) He has also helped create Shadowbane, before he sold the company to Ubi. After that he helped found Kingsisle Entertainment, of Wizard101 and Pirate101 fame.
Gordon Walton is the Executive Producer. He's worked on quite a few MMOs, many of them being good. He was either manager, developer or producer on some big names. Ultima Online: Renaissance, Ultima Online: Third Dawn, The Sims: Online, SWG: JTL and SWTOR.
Anyways, I have literally zero clue what the hell is going on here (outside of basic ideas that they give away.)
Clicking agree signs you up for the beta test. I got put in Beta group 4.
Here's what part of the e-mail says.

Hell why not. Signed up.
Beta Group #4 as well. So at least I'll have someone to interact with.

Signed up as well. Sounds like a good premise. The direction these games should go. Not and endless loop of grind / buy more dlc to grind again; rinse and repeat.
Looking forward to whatever this is.Last edited by Gerg04; 12-30-2014, 12:27 PM.Comment

Re: Official OS General MMO Information Thread
Yup. Much to the detriment of my wallet, I have an open mind about most MMOs. I'll still end up going back to only playing WoW and FFXIV at the worst (like now, though I do have The Repopulation I haven't dicked around too much in yet.)badComment

Re: Official OS General MMO Information Thread
That is one way to think of it. Basically Shadowbane all over again as it was years ago. I am unsure of the TOS with regards to this so I won't provide a link, but there is already a similar project in open beta. If you do a google search for Shadowbane it is one of the first few to pop up.
As far as Shadowbane itself goes. It has always been the best MMO in my opinion, and without some major changes in the industry I do not see it ever being topped (though I never played original Ultima Online so I can't speak to that). Numerous bugs plagued the game when it was live, but to me no game comes close to capturing the PvP experience that it offered.Last edited by KSUowls; 01-02-2015, 04:15 PM.Comment
