    49 Dead In Comair Crash

Wow....this shakes me up because I used to fly Comair from Memphis to Cincinnati every other weekend to visit my mom. Those type of planes only hold 50 people, so it was packed to capacity.

RIP to those who lost their lives.

Forty-nine people were killed today when a Comair passenger plane crashed just after takeoff in Lexington, Ky. One person survived the crash and was hospitalized. No immediate reason was given for the crash, but witnesses said in television interviews that they saw smoke and fire.

There were 47 passengers and three crew members on Comair flight 5191, which was traveling from Lexington to Atlanta, the airline’s president, Don Bornhorst, said.

The University of Kentucky hospital reported that the one survivor was in critical condition, according to The Associated Press. The Fayette County coroner’s office confirmed the 49 deaths.

I saw the headline when I got up this morning on the Cincy Enquirer's site. I thought it might have happened here but read the article and it said Lexington. Like Tyler, I've flown Comair a number of times over the years. Kind of scary. They're saying that the plane tried to take off from the wrong runway, which happened to be half the size long as the one it was supposed to take off from. Apparently the one it took off from was more of a private plane/small aircraft type of runway. RIP to the ones that died.

Yeah that movie came to my mind, I'm sure there will be quite a bit of media coverage on the survivor for months to come.

If he makes it out of the hospital, that is.
