Book recommendation: confessions of a homing pigeon

"Confessions of a homing pigeon" by Nicholas Meyer (1981) is a exraordinary book. I'vre read it twice in recent years and I think about it from time to time.
The book tells the story of George Bernini, whose parents are circus acrobats called "the Flying Berninis". One day they fall down on a show and die. George, who's almost 5 years old (in 1946) and lives with his nanny (whom he loves and adores), has to go to Frace to live with his uncle, Fritz. During the years in Frace he has the best time of his life and exposed to amazing adventures that only his uncle can make happen. In 1951, a custody suit ensues and George moves to Chicago to live with his a Aunt Suasn and her husband, though he begs not to go there. His years in Chicago are the worst time of his life, and in 1956, when he's 14, he escapes back to France to find his beloved Uncle, Fritz. The trip to France becomes unforgertable (when you read the book you'll understand why) and at the end he gets to France.
This is an amzing novel that will make you laugh, cry and get very excited.
For all of you that love to read about an adault the remembers his childhood days in the good old US - this is the book for you!
