Thanks guys for the concern. We are fine. Our apartment itself wasn't damaged. There is some damage to the building itself but not enough to force anyone to move. If I had a camera I would take some pictures.

The crazy thing is that if the car would have hit a foot to the right it would have hit the kid in the wheelchair, a foot to the left and it would have ended up in the apartment below mine, They have a newborn baby in that apartment too. We are all just very lucky no one was hurt. If you believe in God I think he was watching over this place last night for sure.

Crazy...about two years ago, my wife and I were living in an apartment in Houston and a similar thing happend, only at about 7:30 in the morning. There was a main road that went around the complex and on the outside of that was a row of garages. At about 7:30, I was eating breakfast and heard a car's engine rev up, then I head a screech and a loud crash. I went to the window and the car had collided with a rock column in front of one of the garages. It hit it at an angle and ended up damaging 3 garages. The guy stumbled out drunk and collapsed in the middle of the road. The cops were there within minutes and arrested the guy.

Now we live in a house and about 2 months ago, a house on the next street over had almost the exact same thing happen. In the street, you could see tire marks from the car doing doughnuts, then you see the marks go right up the curb, through this guys lawn, across his driveway and right into the corner of his garage...The next morning, we go look at it and one neighbor told us the guy was drunk and arrested and the other neighbor (friends of the driver), said that he couln't find the right gear or his foot slipped off of the clutch (pretty funny because of the 25 or so dark, fresh circles in the street).

Drunk drivers scare the **** out of me. A few years ago my mom had to swerve off the road narrowly avoiding a head on crash with a drunk driver at 50MPH, guaranteed to have killed her. A guy from my old High School was killed by a drunk driver and his dad was seriously injured and almost died, another guy from my high school killed a women because he was driving drunk and he had two friends in his car and one of his friends younger brother. The friends brother was thrown from the car and killed, the women was decapitated on her way home to her family. My first cousin who lives in Charlotte had THREE high school friends killed in drunk driving incidents. I've had 2 drunk drivers crash into my yard in the last 2 years. So essentially I HATE drunk drivers and so help me if anyone I love is ever killed by a drunk driver and they aren't killed I will finish the job for them. I'm more than willing to go to prison for that.

Honestly, the laws for this country definitely need a overhaul so that stupidity doesn't prosper. I hate drunk driving. I say toss them into jail after the first one for a couple of years because it's basically attempted murder. When you're behind a wheel to such a potentially powerful machine, you are a danger to society. Simple as that.......
