Listen to what you are saying..."If he slips up and kills someone?" If he slips up and kills someone, (probably not if, but when) then the system is to blame. Sad reality is that there are just some evil people out there and no amount of rehabilitation will save them. Don't know if thats the case with this kid, but I'd rather err on the side of caution when dealing with demented individuals.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

I know what I'm saying exactly. He's just a kid right now. There's still a chance to teach him to do right. I'd rather give him a chance to save himself then to just automatically write him off as a psycopath and torture him that way.Listen to what you are saying..."If he slips up and kills someone?" This act is SO extreme. It's not like he threw Mr. Turtle over the fence to be eaten by Mr. Alligator. This kid bludgeoned to death 17 animals. Bludgeoned, beat unmercifully, cruelly, over and over until d-e-a-d. He needs to be put some place "safe" from the rest of us so that he doesn't decide to bludgeon to death some playmate.
If he can be rehabilitated, fine. If not, this kid needs to be watched for a long, long time.
Sorry, I don't want my daughter hacked up just because he's only a 7 year old.Comment

Re: Oct 3 - 7-Year-Old Breaks Into Zoo, Feeds Animals to Crocodile
Oddly enough, I visited that reptile center in April 2007. I met Terry the croc, and probably have photos of many of the victims.Wait where were the zoo officials? All the article says is "early wednesday" so I don't think it was like between midnight and 6 AM. As crazy as it may seem the zoo has to face some responsibility too.
That being said that kid is definitely serial killer material right there.
It's misleading to call it a "zoo" -- it's basically a couple rooms with snakes and small lizards/frogs/turtles with a small outdoor area that contains Terry and a few larger lizards. It didn't open until noon, I think, and there's only 1 or 2 people that work there. Alice Springs is a pretty sleepy town, mainly tourist operators who take people out to Uluru (Ayers' Rock), which is why I was there. Nobody expects this kind of thing to happen.
I hope somebody teaches that kid "The Code of Harry" before he moves onto larger subjects.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. I can't believe people think an adult's actions are locked in @ 7 yrs old.-August 17, 1960Originally posted by VP Richard M. NixonI always remember that whatever I have done in the past, or may do in the future, Duke University is responsible one way or the other.

Re: Oct 3 - 7-Year-Old Breaks Into Zoo, Feeds Animals to Crocodile
You believe the kid needs major "help"? You believe that it's possible this kid is severely disturbed? Do you believe the kid may be dangerous or a danger to others, or even himself? I don't believe people are saying he is emotionally an adult, but that he is emotionally dangerous and a possible extreme danger to others his age.
Whether it's locked in or not, I don't know. But, it could be. I'm not a shrink and actually haven't much faith in too many shrinks to solve problems other than with massive doses of drugs for the rest of his life.Comment

Well, sounds like this kid has conduct disorder (http://www.aacap.org/cs/root/facts_f...nduct_disorder) in which case its more than likely he has other co-morbid conditions. It's not something that is easy to treat."You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams

The kid could be on his way to being a sociopath. If left unchecked. If he gets some help, there's enough time to straighten him out. People here sound like they want to room him next to Hannibal Lecter. Get his parents on the ball & let's try & help the kid.-August 17, 1960Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: Oct 3 - 7-Year-Old Breaks Into Zoo, Feeds Animals to Crocodile
Geez, you've already said maybe he kills one more person, maybe then we can do something.
Sorry, but I'm going to take a stand on the side of victims( I know they are animals, but they could have been other kids) every single time, and put the responsibility on the suspects to be straightened out. In this case nothing is happening to this kid because, by statue, he's too young to understand what he did. Fine, good enough, but he still did it.
Course, you said maybe just one more time and THEN....lol.Comment

These are animals. Sure most psycos start with animals and then move on to humans but here's my reasoningGeez, you've already said maybe he kills one more person, maybe then we can do something.

1. He's 7. He really has no idea what he did.
2. I for one would value a human life much more than an animal one.
Give him a while to straighten himself out and with one more incident then let the hammer down. But give him a while. My latest project - Madden 12 http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2043231648Comment
