Sad, low, pathetic, whatever you want to call it. People just have no integrity. My aunt had breast cancer and was told she did not need a mastectomy and could beat the disease. Her doctor ended up being wrong and she died a couple years later. She could have sued the guy (as getting the mastectomy initially would have removed the cancer entirely) and probably would have won a lot of money, but she refused saying he only gave her what he thought was the best advice and the decision was to forego the surgery was ultimately her's to make. She further would say "I will not lower myself for a dollar," and I respect her a great deal for that.

Get over it, your kid got hurt because he sucked and couldn't slide properly. I'm sure there was some type of sliding practice, that's a lot of kids favorite part. At most, they should have covered the cost of his surgeries and rehab if they really screwed something up. MLB uses the old style bases and you don't see any issues there.

I sprained my ankles quite a bit on my jr. h.s. gym floor playing for the school basketball team. Come to think of it, I did the same on my h.s. floor. And now my old school district is thinking of going on strike for the second time within a year. Nobody really taught me how to land after jumping or informed me that the wooden floor was that hard.

        Hmmmmm.......

I swore when I was in little league there was some sort of injury waiver you had to sign.

Three years ago my dad went to his dermatologist with a mole and the dermatologist acted as if it was no big deal and just burned it off.

The next year it came back, and they actually tested it. Turns out it was cancerous.

After surgery to remove it was successful and it had not spread anywhere (thank goodness) he seemed fine. A couple days later the side of his neck swelled up to the size of a baseball and he had to spend three days in the ICU. Turns out the doctors were a bit careless and he had gotten staph.

My parents never thought to take action against anyone, even though they could have.

You guys want to see something else ridiculous. This was all started with an angry anonymous email from a dad claiming his son was being "screwed out of playing time" and he threatened to sue. He ended up making his sons team forfeit 9 games and lose one of their best players.

pathetic. If you click to view the documents you can see the email, it really is pathetic.

Whatever happened to signing that waiver before you could play in a league?

I can see how that may go down:

DISCLAIMER: Coaches may be unfit for their volunteering duty to help the young athletes in the basic fundamentals of baseball, sliding included. Should an injury occur due to any such action, it is not our fault.

The way I see it, the lawsuit (and winning it) was very heavy and perhaps uncalled for, but as I said earlier, I'm sick of little league coaches flat out sucking at their jobs. This comes from my sister's terrible summer on her softball team this year, the first year I hadn't coached her in seven years and she and her friends digressed tremendously. Every single thing these coaches did ruined her, even the way she bunts. It's awful, and they were the cause of an injury as well because the coach didn't know how to coach third base. It led to our player making a very late awkward slide with an incoming ball and she was out for the rest of the season.

I blame the coaches, but I would much rather see a coach be fired than a parent win a lawsuit. That's the wrathing side of me at the moment.
