    NBA cards

Hey I bought an upper deck pack for the first time (Got 5)

Already got a signature of Rodrigue Debois and a Stephon Curry rookie snap shot, Kevin Garnett chrome (354 made) and a lot of gold cards.

Does anyone else collect? This is a lot of fun.

BTW I traded a mellow Gold for the Beaubois sig card. Talk about a rip off.

Used to collect baseball and basketball cards a long time ago. Thought there was some real value in it.

I won a Pete Rose baseball card from my cousin in a bet. Crushed him in a game of Bases Loaded.

Who in the hell bets a Pete Rose baseball card?

I can't remember what card I offered, but it was easy pickings. He was talking trash before it, so I didn't feel bad about keeping his card. I was darn near unstoppable in Bases Loaded and Double Dribble back in the day.

Double Dribble was a classic game hahaha.

I do once in awhile but i dont buy packs or anything i usually just hit up ebay and pick my spots to get vintage rookies, legends game used/autos, or certain players i collect. My best cards are a Kareem logoman, Cwebb logoman, Magic/Larry rookie, Elgin Baylor letterman autograph, and the Knicks star set with the Ewing rookie
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

I've got the entire 1968 and 1969 Topps baseball sets (courtesy of my father), including 7 Nolan Ryan/Jerry Koosman rookie cards. My dad was evidently very good at flipping cards and winning them. No one wanted the rookies, so he would trade for them. Luckily, they're my cards now! As for basketball cards my friend's dad used to work for Upper Deck, so we used to get boxes of cards for free.

You see that makes it boring. It's more of a rush and more rewarding by opening something of your labor. Sometimes you come away sad...Sometimes thrilled. It's a rush for sure.

I really don't mean to sound like a d-bag, but would you rather play the lottery or be handed a million dollars?

                      Million dollars...

This is a little different though. The chances are higher you will get something in a deck of cards. I am a type of person who gets a thrill out of looking at something I got and earned for myself. I maybe lost a few hundred dollars throughout doing it, but it could be worth a lot more later.

As of right now this is not about money to me...It's just a fun hobby that could pay off later. Something I can hand to my kids and there kids and so on a so forth. The cards I would actually keep would be my teams autograph and jersey cards. The rest can be sold.

I've got to agree with you. It was fun. I did buy a lot of baseball cards (not so much basketball as I already had them all). Opening the free packs was actually pretty fun, as me and my friend would make teams out of the players and trade a lot. I stopped collecting cards when I was maybe 12 and really haven't been interested in buying any more since (I did play magic cards for like 2-3 years starting when I was in elementary school going into middle school). Now, on a college budget, I don't really have any money to spend on cards any ways. I wouldn't want to buy them even if I did have money. New cards won't be worth much money. They mass produce them so much now that no normal cards are rare and thus will not be worth a significant amount of money in the future. Collectibles aren't really my thing any more (and haven't been for 6 years or so). I'm happy with my pile of "good" cards (both "new" -- 80s and 90s -- and old) back home valued at 5 digits.

I have an okay collection (all sports). I have not got in thing in a couple of years, it was really expensive and addicting which does not go well.

When Lebron James was a rookie, i went crazy looking for his rookie cards, never got one. The prices for his cards at that time were crazy.

I have also realized that the higher value cards mostly come from high end boxes.

I used to collect them back in the day. I'll never forget the time this one kid(who was a huge Darryl Strawberry fan) unknowingly traded me a Joe Montana rookie card for 7 Strawberry cards I had in my collection. Then he found out that it was his rookie card and got his dad to come to my house to try and get it back.
