Cool thanks man good to know.

A while back there was a rumour that the mouthwashes containing alcohol (ethanol i think) caused mouth cancer, not sure if it was even confirmed / rebuked but i must admit i did change brands to an non-alcoholic one because of it.

Was about to make a thread with the same title, then realized there was not only a thread about this, but I've contributed to it multiple times.

Speaking of one of my previous posts:

I stopped biting my fingernails New Year's 2012 as a resolution. Haven't bit them since. Totally awesome.

Anyway, just visited the dentist the other day and am going to try to start flossing my teeth. It's just... it takes too damn long, and I'm just kind of bad at it. It starts slipping from my fingers after I try to get the back teeth, and I just overall have trouble with it.

For those who floss their teeth, how long does it take? And do you do it every time you brush your teeth as well?

This thread actually motivated me to start flossing every night and I have been doing so for several years now.

I would just start off with a flossing tool. I don't think that it's ideal but it's probably much better than nothing.

Not enough, but the strange thing is, when I do floss I rarely get anything out. Hmm... Maybe I am doing it wrong

Re: Do you floss your teeth?

I now floss twice a day...figured if once was good, then twice must be better.

The reality is that you only get your one set of adult teeth and unlike every other part of your body, when something happens to your teeth, they don't heal/repair themselves and going to the dentist costs a lot of money pretty much regardless of your dental insurance plan.

I was horrible about taking care of my teeth when I was younger and have since paid the price in the form of several cavities and a few root canals/crowns. The result is probably a few thousand dollars out of my pocket as an adult and probably the same out of my parents when I was younger.

I'm not sure I agree that it takes a long time...at least for me. If brushing take 2 minutes, flossing probably takes 30 - 45 seconds. Rip off a strand of floss about 18" or so, wrap it tight around both index fingers and just pop it in between each tooth and drag it down the space between the tooth and gum as far as it will go, move it up and down a few times within that space and then pop it out. Probably less than 2 seconds per tooth.

Brush, floss and Listerine twice a day. The whole process probably takes 3 - 4 minutes. My gums never ever bleed, my breath is always fresh and my gums are super pink and never red.

The only time I have trouble with floss slipping is if I pull a piece that is too short. Otherwise, I just wrap it tight as I can about two or three times around my index fingers and then kind of let sit tightly on the tips of my thumbs.

The worst is when the dental hygienist does it for you in the chair. It's as if she's using chicken wire instead of floss.

Does anyone know what happened to Jonesy??

Flossing... When I remember to pick some up at the store. It's really not that much of a chore to do it, it's just making sure you have some available.

Re: Do you floss your teeth?

I floss my teeth regularly, every evening before I go sleep. I like feeling freshness after flossing and I really care about my dental health. I try to use only those remedies which do not contain any harmful chemicals. Even my toothbrush is organic (it's a bamboo toothbrush ). It's really important to care about your smile because the dentist's services are too expensive nowadays.

                        Epic grave-digging indeed.

The funny thing is thinking about what the thought process was here, because clearly Speedy had to have done a search to find this thread.

Sometimes you can try to create a new thread and the forum will suggest threads that all ready exist based on what your title is.

Who knew that flossing was such a universal and recurring topic of discussion?
