Same thing here. It's not that we "celebrate" it, but when the 9th rolls around, one of us always says, "X years and X months" and a nice I love you and a kiss. I enjoy it because it shows how important the date is to the both of us. It's been 4 years, 2 months so far.

Ended up seeing True Grit and going out to a local Italian restaurant on Sunday. Yesterday I bought her a small bouquet of flowers and a small box of chocolates. Simple.

Kept it low key.......cooked dinner and relaxed. Over all it was a huge success. Women love men who can cook.

          There ya go! Nice slick.

This is an interesting week, vday yesterday and 3 days from now it'll be the 4 year 10 month (almost 5 years, yikes).

Vday for us was good, woke up and she had gotten me some stuff with a nice card - and some candy that's sitting at my desk.

I didn't have anything planned whatsoever until about 3 pm, reserved for Japanese to eat sushi - her favorite.

7 pm rolls around (8pm reservation) she walks in from work, I'm still in my pjs, playing it cool...tell her let's go get pizza or something - she looked pissed, lol.

Eventually, I con her into going with me to get the 'pizza'. I pretend to make a wrong turn, then another - oh and another wrong turn "Ah shoot sweetie, I am way of course tonight!"

End up at the Japanese restaurant, ask her with a huge grin "Wanna eat here?".

She gets it, shrieks with excitement. lol.

We get inside, and bam. Rudest fricking place in the world. Not at all busy or anything, there's no one to greet us though (this is a nice restaurant btw, and got great reviews in OP, Ks) and so I ask the register lady "We have a reserva---"

"Go take a seat on the bar!"

          She practically yelled at me.

          "Ook, thank y----"

"Go there" she says - not even looking up to where "there" was.

Long story short (right?) we sat at the bar for all 5 minutes, she says

"I love you baby, but let's get outta this place - it's the thought that counts"

As a man, with very little $$, I"m relieved and think "sweet, $50 saved".

Wrong, we ended up...somehow..going to our reliable sushi house - and I coughed up $90+tip on nothing but Sushi, lol.

          That's love right there, damnit.

As long as both you guys had a good time, that is all that matters. Sometimes you have to spend a little bit more then you actually have just to see a smile on a person face. It is worth it in the end.

Re: What are you doing for your significant other for Valentines?

Some fool at my wife's work dropped flowers off at her desk from "the one who loves you most". She e-mailed me and was all excited. Then I had to break the news to her that I didn't send them.

I thought, sweet, maybe she has a secret admirer that will buy her stuff. Then she got all bent insuating that I wanted her to have a secret admirer so I could get to creepin.

About an hour later they realized the mistake and took the flowers away and gave them to the right person.

So despite the fact I had given my wife chocolates and a card for Valentines on Sunday night, I end up in some BS fight because some fool dropped flowers off at the wrong desk.

This is my life. All the crappy cliche sitcom episodes actually happen to me. I should start my own sitcom with all the silly shenanigans that happen to me.

Question: When your order Flowers online and they're being delivered, does someone normally have to sign for them? Especially in an Apartment Complex?

True. Went to dinner 2 weekends ago, ended up dropping more then I was expecting. But it was such a nice dinner, it didn't bother me that it hamstrung my finances until payday. I'm paying for it now, flat broke, but it was still well worth it. And it's not even that I had to look good, I did it because I wanted to. If I didn't want to, I have no problems getting Mickey D's.

@fistofrage: I feel your pain. Some of the things that happen to me are just ridiculous. Just gotta laugh at it, not take it too seriously, and move on.
