College Hoops - Draining 9 three pointers (school recored that still stands 14 years later) against Ashland University (the school I transferred from after my freshman year). I was just in the zone in the second half. I think I went 6-7 from behind the arc in the second half and my 9th and final trey came with 5 seconds on the clock to put us up by one. I came off a baseline double screen and my back was to the basket when I caught the ball and I pretty much squared up in midair and drilled it in my former teammate's eye. It was pretty awesome.

Too bad Ashland got a phantom foul call with 0.8 seconds and ended up hitting both FTs to win by one. Pissed. I have watched that game 20 times and it still ticks me off 1) The BS foul call 2) On VHS the video quality is laughable. Ha!

I have some other memorable ones, but that sticks out for several reasons.

I hit .500 my junior year of HS, led the team in RBI's, and was 3rd in home runs.

Then that summer I played legion ball and the coach tried to tweak my swing. He gave me some really bad habits that I couldn't seem to break my senior year and I absolutely sucked.

Scored an empty net goal as a goalie twice.

Coach would always kill me for playing the puck so much, but I never was overly foolish.

Also my Freshman year of HS Ice Hockey, I was supposed to be a Center, our Goalie gets hurt I step in, and in my 10 games in the net, 9-1, .75 GAA, 6 Shutouts.

Alright football.

Favorite was coming from 21 down in the 3rd and winning on a hail mary at the end of the game

Best was 3 plays, 2 back to back. The first was a counter on which I pulled for the end. He just so happened to be a Stanford commit. he was reading the dive all the way, and ended up getting his shoulders facing me with his head looking at the QB. I may have led with my helmet, but I popped him square in the chest. Our QB got down to the goal line, and i was familiar with the guy in front of me, so i cracked a quick joke and got him laughing before the snap and ended up driving him to the back of the end zone.

But my "claim to fame" among the team is what I did on the goal line against our rivals for the time-expiring TD. Our goal line set calls for our all-district, all-state (maybe) LB to line up behind me. The DT and LB were stacked, and before the play he asked me which one I wanted. I was thinking LB in order to stop him from blitzing, and I told him that. But I guess it was the heat of the moment when I saw that the tackle was going to squeeze hard, which would make it reallllllyyyy hard to pick up the backer. So I turned around and told our LB and said "I got the fatass". He kinda half laughed. We ended up both blocking the other linebacker because I blew up the tackle.

Which earned me Player Of The Game, which meant I got the "Bring The Wood" bat that I posted on OS a while back.

But there's honestly nothing better than getting a pancake and taking him to the ground, and it's even sweeter when he's obviously better than you.

I was not into a lot of Sports as a kid. The only one I ever competed in was swimming in Jr High School. In my final year I got first place ribbons in the 50 and 200 yard freestyle in the championships between all Jr high Schools in the area. I think I still have them somewhere.

I scored two goals and got an assist in my high school ice hockey league. I wanted the hat trick. At least we went on to win the championship.

My best game was my "flu game" in 8th grade basketball. Felt horrible, but went out and played against our "arch rivals"... Ended up playing 3 1/2 quarters, sat out the last 4 minutes and had 68 points.

I had several 40 point games, 1 50 point game in HS, but never touched my 68 point game. Had 20 points in each of the first 3 quarters... and only 8 in the first 4 minutes of the 4th. Could have gotten 80. I just know it.

Ahhh... to go back to those days.

Summer between 6th and 7th grade baseball I k'd 15 batters and went 4-5 with 5 rbi's in the same game.

Also made 2nd team all league senior year in football. Highlight of that year was stripping the ball from a half back and falling short of the TD at the 4 yard line. I believe the half back was actually the one to catch me.

I've had several moments throughout my brief sports playing days, but two that get talked about amongst the boys are in high school baseball:

* going 23 for 23 in PA where I either reached by way of walk or base hit. This was during my Freshman year.

* Junior year, going 25 innings of pitching without a walk. In that time I k'd 37 batters with I believe it was 4 earned runs. Pretty sweet.

In college I got my first and only walk off hit on a ball that was clearly a foot foul down the right field line.

Won three championships in hockey, twice as a player, once as a goalie. The championship we won when I was the goalie was in OT against an undefeated team who had beaten us two or three times that season, so we were all up. The celebration when we scored was what I'll remember, I got to center ice and tackled the crap out of the goal scorer. Also, remember making a huge save in the OT to keep us alive. I was locked in.

Won a dodgeball tournament when I had mono. I didn't know it at the time, though. I had been feeling ****ty for a month and like a week later I finally went to the doctor's and got it taken care of. Crazy looking back on it.

What is this Hockey you speak of? Is it a sport?

High-school football. Freshman year. I had finished the JV season and went straight to varsity to start at CB. Ran a 4.2 forty and found out that if I anticipated the WR catching the ball my reaction time either lead to knock downs or big hits. After my first maybe five games teams would not throw to their top WR for the next 3 years when we played anyone.

Also played RB and the first 3 times that I ever touched the ball were for 60, 80, and 60 yard runs. I'm from Greenville NC, in my 30's now but the guys in the barbershop right now today say that I was the quickest person they have ever seen and bring up comparisons to Chris Johnson from when he was at ECU.

I was 15 when I ran against the black box and clocked a 4.21 to be exact. I know I became faster from training but never ran an official time again.
