Okay guys. I bought some jeans tonight (it is unreal how many different "fits" there are, ugh). I wore a 38 last year and tonight I came home with 34s.

    Feels good.

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. Still going strong with not eating meat but haven't been able to workout for a couple weeks now since I have pretty bad plantar fasciittis in my foot right now. I'm gonna take a break in running and just swim and bike right now to not put so much pressure on my foot.

I've lost a total of 30 pounds so far but been lazy lately and eating pizza haha, so I gained 5 pounds back but I'll be more active as soon as my foot heals.

Sounds good, you are a brave and masochistic soul to cut out meat entirely

Hope you heal quickly to get back at the gym. Foot injuries can be the worst!

Thanks! I know I'm very surprised that I was able to give up meat. It's been easier than I thought. I feel great though. I still eat eggs and I'll have fish maybe once week if that so I haven't completely gave up meat entirely but majority of the time I'm eating healthier than ever.

Yeah i know, I hate it. I'm fine one day then the next day I take a step and fall on my face. It's been two weeks of me hobbling around but I'm able to finally walk normal today but there is still pain. Gonna have to give up basketball and running for awhile and stick to swimming. Maybe its time to get a bike.

              Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

Nice work Mike! This whole thing (fat loss etc) is about finding what works best for you. There is no ultimate program or magic diet that will get you the results you need or want. You need to educate yourself, find what works best for you then stick to it and the results will come. For example I couldn't do what Mike does and would give up pretty quickly and I know for a fact what I do isn't suited to others but it suits me great and that is why I stick with it. It's just about being persistent enough and determined enough to not just 'give up' before you find what works for you....

This exercise / healthy lifestyle thing really is the ultimate 'hobby' if you wanna call it that. I was talking to my wife about it because she was saying how she is impressed how consistent I have become and the results she is seeing with it and she was asking what was the huge attraction of it all. I basically said:

              1. I feel better about myself
              2. it gives me a sense of achievement
              3. I look forward to it every day
              4. It relieves stress (nothing gets me down or stressed at work like it used to)
              5. I sleep better (out like a light when my head hits the pillow)
              6. I have more energy throughout the day (who would think getting up 2 hours earlier than I used to, sleeping way less and doing at least 1.5hours of exercise most days would mean I have more energy!)
              7. It gives me a great outlet outside of work /family commitments. I mean I'm too busy with work to play team sports any more, most of my friends (like me) are busy with careers / family etc so we can't hang out much any more so this is something I can pursue where I don't have to rely on anybody but myself.

Needless to say she want's in and want's me to be her "personal trainer" after she has our 2nd child in March to get her back in shape.

                Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

I weighed in yesterday at 202.

Anyway, I have never ever weighed over 200, but have been there now for a few months.

I've stayed consistently at 180 until last 8-10 months, coincidentally, when I 'found' love.

Anyway, realistically even 180 is too much, because it wasn't much muscle. I have set a goal for myself and wil hopefully be working towards it.

Also, if you haven't noticed, it wasn't really because of my girl, lol. I also graduated and now have an office job. I must find a way to make up for the lost activity from my job before.

                  Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

Hey - I'm about to head to bed, but I thought it might be good to ask quickly so that tomorrow there might be an answer or two. I'd read through the thread tomorrow a bit, but it's a big one.

I'm ready to start eating better and losing weight and getting in shape. I'm about 200lbs and I'd like to get that down. I'm not bent on a number, I just want to get in shape and be healthy; the number attached to it isn't important.

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with juicers. I'm looking on amazon now, and I didn't realize there were so many. Does anyone have suggestions - have you found that expensive ones vs cheaper ones have a lot of differences, or not really? And from what I'm reading, it looks like you need to make it and drink it, you don't really want to have it sitting around - even chilled.

I'm thinking of using it not so much a fasting thing, but as a meal replacement here and there and has a snack maker. I'm planning on eating a lot of fresh vegetables and basic meats like chicken, tuna... I'm trying to give up processed food altogether; basically just buy it raw (meats, veggies, nuts, fruits) and from there make meals.

Problem is - I'm also kind of lazy; so I need things I can make fairly easily.

I also joined the health club at my work and I'm planning on starting tomorrow. I was thinking the juicer would be a great way to make something before I go in.

Can you basically mix up whatever you want, or do some juicers not really do certain things? Like can I just shove spinach, carrots and celery down into and and make something, or does it not really work like that?

I've just kind of been looking around a bit, but it's bed time now - so I was thinking I'd ask and hopefully someone will have some info to share. I searched "juicers" and this thread popped right up, so someone mentioned it.

                  Thanks.

That's the important part right there man. Set some goals and kick some ***, I'm sure with a little discipline and a bit of perserverence you'll get there in no time.

I know exactly how it feels when you fall head over heals and going out to dinner and drinks and staying in eating take away becomes the norm. When I met my wife I did the same thing and went from a fit lean 180 up to about 235 over the next few years. Nobody's fault but my own. It's not easy losing the weight but it is very rewarding when you do. GL with it man, post up some updates here to let us know how it's going.

Sound like you ready to do this! That health club sounds like a great idea. I know for me making myself accountable to others has really helped me stick with when the old habits start to derail my progress.

I think RockinDaMike is the man when it comes to juicers etc so he can probably answer your questions fifty thousand times better than I can. If you want to get into that sort of thing are looking for some motivation I would suggest watching a documentary called Fat, sick, and nearly dead that he recommended if you haven't already, it's good stuff.

Funny enough, that was the very movie I was watching when I got the idea to make juices. I had already been planning on eating fruits and veggies and stuff - but then I saw that movie (totally randomly - I just went to Amazon Instant Video and sorted by highest rated and it was at the top) and realized how great it would be to be able to do that.

I ended up doing some research and youtube watching decided on this one:

                      http://www.amazon.com/Breville-BJE20...8446017&sr=8-1

Seems pretty good for the price.

That's the exact juicer I bought and its been great. I've juicing almost everyday.

The energy you get from drinking fresh juice is amazing. Everything has gotten better with my skin, and was able to get off 2 medications already for skin and high blood pressure.

I've gone mostly organic but it can get expensive so the veggies/fruit with skin like cucumbers and apples can get the most pesticides so in priority go organic with those veggies/fruits first.

I mostly juice veggies: kale, spinach, cucumber, celery and a little ginger.
I even had bokchoy and lettuce juiced. You would be surprised how good sweet potatoes are juiced.

Fruits I go with apples, lemon, strawberries but since I'm diabetic I go less with the fruit. Keep in mind that's what I like but put what you want, oranges, berries, pears. DO NOT JUICE bananas, those for the blender. You want to peel anything with a thick skin like lemons or lime.

The mean green drink from the movie:

1 bunch of kale (6 or so leaves)
                        4 peices of celery
                        2 granny apples
                        1 half cucumber
                        1 half lemon
1 peice for ginger (this puts a big kick into the drink)

I think it taste great, but like some people I've had try it didn't like it because they thought it taste like grass. I grew up eating veggies so it didn't bother me and now I can't really go a day without one.

I usually will go at least once a day as my afternoon snack. For the amount I make I should split it up two different times but I just down the whole thing.

One of the draw backs from juicing is that a lot of fiber is taking out. So I've been adding organic fiber to the drink and I now add omega 3 oils to it.

Here's what my afternoon snack looked like:

^^^ Me too. I love fresh carrots but not a fan of them juiced. Like I have said before I don't think I would enjoy many of these juices but that doesn't mean it's not awesome and it works great for others.

Veges are so awesome when you are trying to loose weight though. I can eat a massive plate of veges and some chicken or steak packed with vitamins and minerals and feel like I'm so full I might explode and it's less that 500 cals. I eat one large fries from McDonalds and its 500 cals, has very little nutritional value and I'm hungry again 5 minutes later.

I love raw carrots, but for some reason when I eat too much I get a slight heartburn feeling. It is the ONLY food that does that to me. Blanched (semi-cooked) I am fine, juiced I am fine, fully cooked I am fine.

Exactly right on the nutrition versus junk... this girl I know who goes to school for nutrition and does competitions for fitness body and swimsuits posted this link on my FB wall... it is a funny take, which grasps you, but VERY informative in the way it is portrayed, and 100% FACT...

What kind of diet is everyone on? I've read some horrible things about the stuff I eat. I'm personally looking to never eat bread again!

In general though, what are some good meals that can be made rather easily?
