Having spent the better part of the last 2 years travelling to DC. I have mixed feelings. It's a great city to see the sights and get a real feel for American history. I think everyone needs to visit it at least once.

Downside there's really not a lot of night life. They don't really have a great restuaraunt scene either. Although the Georgetown area has some cool spots. That's a rough city if you get outside the tourist zones particularly after the sun goes down. Driving in the DC/VA is a real nightmare imo.

Just drive to Gulf Shores or Panama City Beach you'll spend very little time in the car (maybe 1 day both ways) and still have great weather and nice beaches

DC or Chicago sound like good choices for you then, cause you could visit a good chunk of the monuments in a day or 2 so. I loved visiting there on my 5th grade safety patrol trip and I was only like 10.

Chiacgo sounds good as well if like you said were to go to a game at Wrigley.

Just for the record, PCB is in no way equivalent to Miami. In NO way.

We have it narrowed down to

            A. Chicago
            B. D.C.
            C. Miami

I haven't been any further north than Tennessee/NC (if that counts) and wouldn't mind seeing some more of the north. The only problem is I don't know how the weather will be when we go.

I wouldn't mind checking out some of the Nation's capital. To those who are from the are, it may not seem much, but It's something I've never done and I wouldn't mind checking out. Miami seems to be the most popular response. It's not extremely far away and the weather should be nice. I've been to Florida on multiple occasions and been to South Florida, but I've never stepped foot in Miami.

Anyone want to give their opinion ? Which would you choose ?
Without reading any replies, my suggestion would be to head north (sorry Miami) and go to D.C. or Chicago. My choice would be D.C. due to history and whatnot.

Can't go wrong with Chicago, either.

Upon thinking about it further, if it were me... I'm going to Washington DC. There's a lot to see there. Furthermore, you could book it another 140 or so miles and hit up Philadelphia, which is loaded with so much history that it's not even funny.

Chicago can wait, while DC (and another two hours with Philly) can provide a lot more to see and much more U.S. history to take in.

              Just my opinion.

Dude, I drove I-95 through Virginia last weekend... what a nightmare. Traffic slows from 80 MPH to a crawl for NO REASON. And everyone is super aggressive on the roads. I had spent the previous three days driving around eastern NC, which is the complete opposite... very little traffic on the roads and few people go above the speed limit.

I-95 sucks from Rhode Island to DC/VA. When I drove from Rhode Island to Norfolk VA I went around the outer banks of Maryland to get into Virginia, avoiding DC and preventing a lot of headaches.

I live in tampa and the Weather is hot as ish here. Do you like beaches and the nightlife? Then you will probably like Miami..... if not, then I wouldnt go. I personally dont like Miami and have had better times in both Chicago and DC. If you like learning, you can spend days in museums, many of which are free (Smithsonians). But I dont know your money situation.

You mean you don't like the NASCAR driving on I-95?

It does get a little ridiculous. I had to take 95 to get to church on Sundays when I lived in MD.
