My wife was pregnant and on bedrest while my 3yr old was constantly getting in the way. She meant well but man it was exhausting!

For sure! We have been going through our garage and threw away a lot of the stuff we moved from our prior house (or got when her mom moved out of state). Still a lot to go through, but over the past few years we've had to clean crap out (bookshelves, furniture, etc) because we needed more room for kid stuff. We have to clean everything up, figure out what needs someone to come out and fix, etc. Not looking forward to it, but houses in our area are going very fast lately, so i'm hoping it'll be easy.

      Officially a home owner 🙂
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

Less than a week at our new home and my wife's sister and her son show up to our doorstep they are being evicted and their lights are turned off. Just 2 weeks ago her and her boyfriend took a vacation trip to Miami but now all of a sudden your being evicted ? I am beyond pissed. Apparently she broke up with the boyfriend who doesn't work and has been leeching off her. We're going to try to figure something out over the weekend maybe get them in a hotel but I'm just frustrated as we haven't had a chance to settle in.

wow, that's horrible, be careful with that, I know a friend who had that situation that was for "for a little while" and its going on years now..

Having issues with the pool filter again. Automatic timer doesn't seem to work, so have to remember each night to turn it on manually. It does shut itself off at the time I've set, and there's no issues as far as I can tell with the levels of pressure when the thing is on, so hopefully it's a relatively easy fix.

Can't you just get another automatic timer? Does it plug into the wall? Are you using those cheap type timers people use for Christmas lights? Just wondering, if so, they are easy to replace

Some of these are older and mechanical (spinning gears)...ours passes through that (it's always on now, but had tabs I could use to turn on and off as it spun) and goes to a newer pump that has LCD screen and time and all that...

Is it the mechanical type that's having an issue? Not sure how you'd fix that personally.

Put down a kitchen backsplash in our home.

                    Before:

                    Mid grout:

Wife found another backsplash that she likes better so I might have to take this one off and start over. I'm not too upset though because I'm not a huge fan of the bone color grout I used, not too mention it was sanded which was a pain to wipe clean. Thankfully the contractors who built my house left a bunch of thin-set mortar and grout (bone sanded and ultra white non sanded) so I don't have to buy anything other than the new backsplash tiles.

Update on the pool: nothing wrong with the filter, and replaced the timer so that all works now.

We did have to drain the pool, though, as the water was too hard and was really the culprit behind the chemicals really only treating the top of the water. Thought we could make it another season before draining, but no biggie. Didn't take long to empty out the pool, and now waiting for it to fill back up. Adding in some shock as we go and after that, will add some additional chemicals to the water and we should be good as new.

does that up your water bill a ton by having to fill it?

Not really; it'll be about $20 more next month.

                            Awesome!

Friday a random lawn guy came by, didn't speak much English, but blew out our whole yard for 375 (amazing deal for the crap we had). Monday he fixed our broken irrigation (digging out a PVC, fixing a broken valve, etc) for 250. Love that our sprinklers work again lol.

Pool is finally clear. I think our sand filter is old and doesn't filter that well, but now I just have to vacuum more and get the rest of the dirt out that our cleaner isn't reaching. Just want it looking good enough for people walking through whenever we're showing.

Next is boxing up a bunch of crap and getting a storage unit for a few months, fun!

Re: For all of you guys who are homeowners or newly owned

I finally got a robot vacuum cleaner for our pool a couple month or two ago and man is that thing a real time saver. I just having to skim the top of the pool rather than scraping the bottom and manually vacuuming, so that is really nice. I'd suggest getting one to anyone who doesn't have one.

Also, our neighbor who had the big camper is in the process of selling their house, so no more big camper reflection in the pool. Plus, they were not the nicest people in the world either (they admitted to us that they're "not dog people" when we first met them even though they knew we had dogs, and just weren't friendly in general). I'm hoping that are new neighbors are more dog-friendly and don't have a big camper.

                              Pics to see the difference:

*not the best view, but better than with the camper.

Lastly, we had a professional photographer local magazine come out and take pics of our pool a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty cool seeing the drone they used, as I had never really seen one in action before... but now I kind of want one.
