To watch 30 points go up on you in the first half is absolutely painful... moreso when you watch it all from the bench (I wasn't good enough to play much...). And then, last year, two years removed from high school, this happened:

It was really cool for me to watch some of the guys that I remembered coming in as Freshmen accomplish an amazing feat like that.

My high school's team was eliminated from this year's competition the other night... they were down 28-21 midway through the third and ended up getting beat 50-21...

As far as other sports went, the only one we were any good at was baseball and I guess track too... Our Boys' Basketball team was always .500-ish (and, surprise, surprise, I sat bench again...). Our girls' team was bad... I think they won like 3 games my senior year.

Our track teams were usually pretty good... I think we won 2 conference championships in my 4 years there for the boys' team, including a district championship my senior year (I only ran until my junior year... bad time to quit) and the girls had a streak of 8 conference championships in a row, I think... that broke a year or two after I left.

As for baseball, we went to the state playoffs for the first time my 8th grade year, went to substate and lost a wild game (we were up 8 runs in the 6th and blew the lead.). My sophomore year we went back to state and got beat in the semifinals by a private school (that moved up from 2A to 3A the next year... more on that later) that had a guy that was drafted in the MLB draft that year (the 34th round or something like that, but still...). We were down 1-0 until the bottom of the 6th when they scored 7 runs... but we had 0... count 'em... 0.... seniors on that team, so we felt pretty good about the next season. My junior year, we went undefeated, including beating the private school that beat us the year before 6-5 at a tournament (we had 6 errors though...ouch...), until our second to last conference game of the year. We got absolutely shut down but were down 1-0 until the bottom of the 6th when they tacked on 9 runs (perhaps you're seeing a theme here...). At any rate, we still were conference co-champions, and made it through districts unscathed, and we were the #1 team in the state in Class 2A... all well and good, but in our substate game we had to play the #2 team in the state... we got beat 8-2. Just couldn't get the bats going, and that team went on to win state. My senior year our coach left (he came back the next year) and the replacement took us to a decent season, 20-13, but we got beat in the first round of districts.

Well the end of my night was not so hot....I kinda overstepped my bounds with the GF and she chewed my head off.

Luckily she forgives quickly and i'm spared having the sword of Damocles over me

Well she was talking about how her son hasn't come to her place to move an extra bed that she has and I went a bit too far in saying how it's not gonna kill him to go over and she should make it a point to get him to go there and do it. So I kinda overstepped my bounds and she was all "He's not your son, you don't know what he's like, you can't tell me how to handle this situation!" etc etc.

I took it all and apologized but it was rough as I got a stern dressing down for about 20 minutes.

Everything is cool now though she told me if I were there with her she'd have slapped me over the head and chopped my chest to the point that I'd lose my breath.

Maybe I'm crazy, but isn't the fact that she's your GF mean that she potentially thinks that you could be a father for her son? And if so, shouldn't she accept the input and not go off even if she disagrees?

But then again, I don't understand women myself, so what do I know?

Well i'm dating an older woman so er, her son is only 12 years younger than me. That wouldn't work out too well.

Oh.....well that isn't that bad.....I learned early on when it comes to women kids to keep my mouth close. I remember the 1st woman I dated with kids, I did the same thing and she cursed me out. That ended that relationship because I told her straight up I'm not being around an undisciplined child. Her child was a terror and left the house when ever he wanted without even asking and he was only 8.

He was only 8?!?!

Well you had just cause there and yeah i'll be choosing my words a lot more carefully. Sorry making it sound worse then it was. My GF has a quick temper and likes to hit me (not too hard) when she's PO'ed. I don't mind it much because I know she'd never hurt me.
