Seems to me the choice is obvious. Make the change! I made "the change" 10 years ago and couldn't be happer. I even liked my old job. But I LOVE my job now. As for the Health Insurance, those 3 months wll go by quick. Also, everything you say about the change is positive. Don't get stuck in the rut thinking that familiar surroundings = happiness. It doesn't work that way. I was scared too once to change but I leaped head first and never looked back.

Re: Off Topic 2012
Ever been in a point in your life where you have two paths ahead of you and you don't know where to go? That's kinda where I'm at right now.
On one hand I go down the new career path and get a better schedule, a tad more money, and a better work environment. Con is I lose my health insurance for 3 months and have to pay out of pocket for own coverage.
On the other hand I keep my current job I dislike it but I stay in familiar surroundings and I don't have to worry about the change in my life. Will I be happy on this current path? Probably not but it's a job.
New Job I see family/friends more and have a normal dayside schedule instead of the nights I've been working past 6 years. I'm so twisted right now I don't know what to do. I think I want to do the new job, but I'm a bit scared/worried what will happen if I do decide to move. UGH.

But just my little opinion from reading it you should take the new job, the positives seem to far outweigh the negatives. Also it seems like you're getting burnt out of your current job, really once you get acclimated to the new settings it will be second nature to you. Plus who doesn't love friendlier hours, and seeing the family more?
Life's short sometimes you have to take chances, I'd hate to look back and regret not making a change when the opportunity came around.Minnesota Vikings

Agreed with Chef Matt and Feared. It's easy as an outsider to look at that situation and say take the new job, but it seems to me like the positives far outweigh the negatives and I fear that not making that leap could be something you grow to regret and wonder about in the future. Even if it doesn't turn out to be as great as you thought it would be, at least you took the chance and saw it through. At least that's my take on it, "I do not regret the things I've done, but those I did not do" comes to mind.
But ultimately the choice is yours and only you know which path is best for you.Comment

Same here, except we don't go back to the 14th. Fortunately, out of my 5 classes, I've only got 2 tests.... but I've got two papers, one of which is a 5 pager... not bad, better than tests, I suppose.MLB: Minnesota Twins

Ugh something's not right with my computer. That blank advertising frame I was complaining about is still a problem, it'll show up on the right or the bottom. Uninstalling & reinstalling adblock didn't help. Also now I've been noticing text creating their own hover links randomly. Avast and Malwarebytes aren't catching anything.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

I'd take the new job as well CB. If you ever get the opportunity to be happy while working (and making more money to boot) you should probably go with it.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Exactly 4 weeks until my 21st birthday
Unfortunately, that birthday will be without my friends and my girlfriend, since I don't go back to school until the following week, and my girlfriend doesn't come home from Turkey until about 4 days after my birthday.
This semester really flew by though, and I'm pretty proud of myself and the girlfriend for making it work while she was abroad.
Edit: Not sure how many of you guys remember my occasional breakdown before the semester started regarding the whole long-distance relationship thing, but yeah, looks like we made itNFL: Bills

Re: Off Topic 2012
ChubbyBanana's post got me thinking. A lot of People are such creatures of habit, that they fear stepping out of their comfort zone even if it means going through the same monotonous routines. After all you can control what you know, a lot easier than the unknown.
I really respect people that are diverse risk takers, and are constantly going out of their comfort zones, moving around all over the globe, trying new and exhilarating activities, constantly meeting new people. Maybe they will do something in a more unconventional way in such that's it's a big gamble but the payoffs could be huge.
I myself struggle with dealing with change, so much so that it can be a detriment. I've lived in the same place for 10+ years now, been employed at the same place for 4, most of the people I interact with I do so on a daily basis.
I guess for the New Year I should make it a point to try and be more spontaneous; try new activities, seek out new friendships, try to look at life slightly different. Even if it's only taking a different route to work, taking some time to explore different neighborhoods and see what they have to offer, maybe going to a different Gym and trying to meet some new people, next time I see a cute girl maybe just going straight up and starting a conversation instead of sitting back and being shy. If none of those work out, oh well I tried and experienced something new.Minnesota Vikings
