Re: Who else is afraid of ladders?
heights don't bother me ... unless i'm standing on the glass lookout of the Sear's/Willis Tower, so ladders don't normally bother me. however, i had to replace my own siding this past summer and there were parts where the ladder wasn't quite steady (big gravel rocks) and i had no other option. that was not fun.Individuality: Always remember that you are unique. Re: Who else is afraid of ladders?
A bit OT, but that's the opposite of what I experienced there. Looking over the edge of the Hoover Dam made my knees weak, but I had no problems in the Willis glass boxes. I think it's because you're completely enclosed. I'm glad I paid the money to go up there.
As for ladders - it depends on how tall they are and how sturdy they feel. A 10-foot ladder where there's two supports (like this /\ ) doesn't bother me at all. A longer ladder propped up against a house? That gets to me a bit.Comment

Re: Who else is afraid of ladders?
Like somebody else said, transferring from a roof to a ladder is the only thing that really scares me. When I was like 14 I was climbing off of our garage roof onto the ladder, missed my footing, and fell 10 feet straight onto my back. Laid me up for weeks.Comment

Re: Who else is afraid of ladders?
That's pretty much the way I am too. Really it's a fear of open height then. As long as there is a good barrier preventing me from toppling over the edge, I'm fine. I don't like ferris wheels or the swing rides at amusement parks, though I'm fine with roller coasters I guess because they go so fast I don't have time to get nervous.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: Who else is afraid of ladders?
I loathe ladders, most especially getting down from things like roofs and tress. Getting up them isn't so bad, as long as the angle and length are right, but turning back to the ground and descending always turns my stomach.Comment

Re: Who else is afraid of ladders?
I have no idea if this would work, just a random idea I had:
Why not try using smaller ladders for starters and then gradually working your way up to bigger ladders?
As for myself, I hate things like roller coasters (I always fear the worst when it comes to that) and I can occasionally get a fear of heights in certain situations, but it's nothing too crazy. Like ITT, I'm fine with the two-sided ladders. Ladders that are leaning against the side of a house or whatnot are different story though.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: Who else is afraid of ladders?
I used to have this problem, but I have to climb about a 15 foot ladder to get down into my boat for work so after a couple of times of having to carry stuff down into the boat (water jugs, multiple books) with my hands useless because I was carrying stuff I overcame the fear.Comment

Re: Who else is afraid of ladders?
Lol. I just posted in a thread about riding roller coasters, but I'm not the biggest fan of ladders. I always feel shaky on them like I'm about to fall off. Even on short ones.Comment
