I told you my reasons. It is overpriced. I have never seen them cheaper for any flight I've needed compared to airlines like Delta and United. Throw in Southwest and it is even more expensive. I highly doubt there is anything they offer on flights that can justify charging twice as much, sometimes more.Comment

Agreed!
I've taking about a half dozen airplane (round) trips per year for the past decade plus and:
1) SWA has the best prices / policies / rewards / coupons / direct flight options, but it's still more like taking an "air bus" than an airline...
2) JetBlue has TVs and...well..that's about all they do right...
3) The rest of the US "Majors" are (IMHO) all pretty equal, in that they are relatively pricey for spotty service (at best)...
I have a SW credit card and never have a problem using points vs. Other points with restricted flights or seats.

Re: What is the Best Major Airline in the US and why?
They are trying to merger with US Air airline to compete with the new Delta and United. To do this they have been trying to cut cost big time. There were a lot of problems caused by contract negotiations with the pilots, flight attendants, and mechanics. This caused cancelled flights and delays. Then add an aging fleet with mechanics purposely breaking things, a lot of planes need repairs. Then their computer systems seem to have the most problems and cause all flights to be stopped.
Now the stupidest of all is they don't operate effective hubs. They have Chicago, Dallas, and Miami as their 3 main hubs. Chicago is a terrible hub as there are always delays which end up stranding people. Dallas is close to Chicago, so in flight times, you aren't gaining much. Miami is too far south and is not a good option for connecting flights in the US.Comment

Southwest really shouldn't be in the major category yet. You rarely see frequent fliers using them. That will be changing in 2014. I saw an article that they will be adding international flights in 2014. If they add more than just Central American and Caribbean flights, say some flights to Europe and South America, then they will be considered a major airline and potentially shift more than the 1-2 flight customers that they normally have.Comment

Another reason why I like Delta is because of the ATL hub. Hartsfield-Jackson is a great airport and I enjoy wandering around when I have a long layover there. As I fly out of an airport with very few flights anywhere other than hubs, I spend lots of time in Atlanta and Detroit airports when I connect through them (flying Delta).Comment
