Re: Off Topic 2014
I don't think anyone said that?
Is it hard to accept that up until now depending on where one is in there life that college was the best experience of their life?
It doesn't mean that it won't be surpassed in the future unless I missed a post saying otherwise at some point.Comment

No, no one said that. Just typical reading into things too much from a couple folks.I don't think anyone said that?

Re: Off Topic 2014
No not at all. While I was in college, I had a blast too, but it wasn't *because* of college. I just had a lot of fun times while we just happened to be in college. They weren't things that wouldn't have happened otherwise. Trips, BBQs, etc. I went to Mammoth in 2006 and it took us like 15, 16 hours to complete a 5 hour drive, and included an incredible rainstorm, an incredible snow storm, avalanche, a church shelter, putting on chains in a blizzard, etc. The driveway and door to our cabin was blocked with all the snow so we, lucky ****s we were, had to stay with my friend's family who was also coming up and staying elsewhere. We embarked for the trip at 9:30am. We didn't get to sleep until 2:30am. We had 10 people in a two bedroom room. And that's not even including the clogged sink, my friend falling asleep in the shower, or the battery on one of our cars dying, causing my friend's parents having to drive up and deliver the spare key because the nearest dealership was in Reno or whatever.
It was an incredibly memorable trip all things considered, and it had nothing to do with actual "college life."Last edited by TheMatrix31; 07-27-2014, 05:52 PM.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
You did college wrong, then. Sorry.
Hell, I didn't even do college completely "right" and it was still incredible. Plenty of life left and good things to come, I hope, but very little will compare to how care-free and just plain fun those years were.
Also - I don't think people who commute or didn't live on campus or whatever didn't experience college. No offense meant, Matrix, but your opinion about college life is going to be completely different than people who lived on campus/went to big schools/whatever no matter what.Last edited by Beantown; 07-27-2014, 05:56 PM.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
There is nothing done "wrong" or "right" anyway. That means that there's some sort of arbiter of what's wrong and what's right.
Do things how you wish and if you did them according to that and you're happy with it, then you've done it "right." I wanted to move to UC San Diego via transfer instead of staying and going to UCLA, so according to my desire I didn't do it "right." I also saved tens of thousands of dollars by going to community college then staying at my house so I did do it "right" in another respect.Last edited by TheMatrix31; 07-27-2014, 05:58 PM.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
Knowing how I am, I guarantee living on or near campus would have made me loathe my time in college rather than loved it. Definitely would have changed my opinion but not in the way you'd think. I think being able to step back is what allowed me to have my great college memories. I had plenty of instances of going down and visiting my friends who actually *were* living on their own and living "the college life." I know I would have hated that. I got to experience the great parts of college without having to experience the ****.

As for your point about going to big schools, well, let's not act like I went to Middle West Idaho Community College, lol.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
Eh in a way yes and no. I certainly won't be able to get away with being sober only 25% of the week and staying out until 6am again excluding some of my summers I guess. Or live with and next to some of my best friends in life where we do something fun or stupid everyday.
On the other hand i'm looking forward to having a little disposable income I can put away to try to visit some of the US in the summers if I can. Really only ever been to FL, Louisiana, D.C. and New York(both school trips). Plus the whole settling down with a family thing one day if that happens.
Although I can definitely see if you weren't really one to enjoy bars, college football, large crowds, etc. you may have a different view cause it certainly wasn't my thing all the time as some nights I just wanted to watch TV or something else.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

College was so awesome I went twice!
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Off Topic 2014
Meh.
If helping get the video game studio I work for to this day from start-up to legitimate company and getting to know through that everyone I currently call a close friend was doing college wrong (this was literally the only big-picture part of the experience I enjoyed), I'm not sure I want to be right. Beyond that, everything I've done after college has gone so much better for me than anything while in it.
Just my personal opinion and experience, though, no hard feelings meant to you or anyone else.

Re: Off Topic 2014
I'm of the opinion that the best of times in life are the early pre-teen years. (if you had a reasonably good family situation) I spent long summer days going to the pool, climbing trees, riding my bike, just relaxing at friends' houses playing N64, and PS1 games for hours on end.
That's before you become aware of the problems of the "Real World" and don't have to worry about things like: Relationships, Tuition, Insurance and Gas Prices, W-2 Forms, Working double shifts...

Re: Off Topic 2014
Just found out my sister and her boyfriend (of 8 years who I already consider a brother) got engaged today.
So freaking excited.
I now have a little over a year (they're going for a fall wedding next year) to find a good date. Challenge accepted.Comment

TV sold, PS3 and 360 boxed up, internet disconnected. I can't believe people used to live like this. I'm reduced to using my phone has a hotspot so I can watch Netflix on my laptop. 3 days of this.
Pretty dope. Weddings are always a good time.NFL - Vikings

Leaving San Bernardino huh? What are you crazy?
Just messing but I am born and raised in Apple Valley about 30 min north on the 15. Working in Texas right now and have been kinda homesick lately. Miss that area if you can believe it.
