Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Starting to slowly incorporate lifting after my shoulder surgery. I'm 3 months post op and it still feels weak and is very painful to stretch. Working on range of motion still. I can't describe how much this injury has sucked.
I'm finally running on the treadmill. I am not a distance guy my max I will run is a 5k.
Getting my diet in check and early on I'm feeling pretty good about it. I will hopefully post some more in here to try and stay motivated. One year away to the day from my wedding as well. I need to drop 15-20 and I know how to do it. Willpower and discipline is the key for meSOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I'm starting Month 2 of Insanity next week and should finish up the day before I leave for the beach.
When I get back I'm going to check out P90x.

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Definitely. The meal plans certainly help, but if you're not use to the routines you'll definitely see improvement (and be hurting the first two days). I've done the first month probably 3 or 4 times, but have only done the full cycle twice so far.

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Anyone have experience with resistance bands?
After running the Spartan Beast in September, I plan on picking up the Bodylastics Strong Man XT set of bands. I'd like to hit up a solid lifting program with them for 6 months or so before getting back into my training for next years Spartan. Has anyone seen good results with bands? I'm not necessarily looking to build a ton of muscle, but I would like to add some along with both getting stronger and leaner in general.Comment

You can do a lot with a quality resistance band. I use them quite a bit.Anyone have experience with resistance bands?

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I used the bands more for Rehab, Pre-Hab type work. Strengthening postural stabilizers, muscles that don't get much work day to day; unless specifically targeted. (like Shoulder external rotators: Posterior Delt, Teres Major, Minor)Anyone have experience with resistance bands?

If you're looking for more of a dynamic, explosive type of strength drive and a different resistance stimulus they will help toward your goal. I used the Rogue Monster Bands off of Rogue Fitness' website.Minnesota Vikings

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Anyone know a good move to work/strengthen the groin? I ran more in my last softball game than I have all year at one time. After a really hard run to first it felt a little tight. Wanted to work it a little early in the week.Comment

1:26 into the video, best groin stretch on the planet. Look up "Supine Groin" stretch if you don't feel like pinning your Hip with a Weighted Plate.
Foam roll your Adductors for some Myofascial Release, and the Hip Adductor Machine in the Gym. No Gym then Monster Band Walks, or Side-Lying Clams are an alternative. Will strengthen your Inner Thigh Muscles.(Adductors)
Sounds like you're just tight there and you need to work on your External Rotation to open up your hips.Minnesota Vikings

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Face pulls w/Rope, Rear Delt flies on the Chest Fly Machine (Reverse the movement) Bent Over Cross Cable laterals.
Bent Over Barbell Rows overhand grip, T-Bar Rows. Going to be able to use the most weight on these. (more for General upper Back mass but rear delts will get some work)Minnesota Vikings

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Thanks I already do face pulls and rear delt flies on the chest machine. My rear delts still look so puny compared to my front. I should try the cable laterals. Gonna give it a try tomorrow morning if it's not too crammed

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Rear delts are difficult to target for mass specifically. Can't really load up on a ton of weight on rear delt movements without risking shoulder joint health.
Best bet is to keep progressing on your heavy compound pulls (Tbar, bb row) and eventually your rear delts will catch up. Also some gyms have that Iso-lateral High Row hammerstrength machine. Maybe try progressing on that for a different stimulus.
