I fell off the wagon this year guyz. My weight ballooned up and now Im back on the saddle. Started this week with baby steps in the gym, and drastic diet change to when I was making progress last year. I had a goal of losing 5 pounds a week until I get down to where I was at the peak of weight loss. Stepped on the scale saturday (monday is my actual weekly weigh in) and Im down 9 pounds. Gotta stay on track this time around.

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I'm not really a supplement person.
When I was still home and working out I had kicked all pre workouts and artificial energy and such.
Any legit feedback on Hydroxycut ? I heard it helps as long as you keep a good diet, drink a lot of water, and exercise daily.Comment

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I've used it many times and it helps. I prefer Cellucor Super HD and JYM supplements to give me what I need. I am seeing great results from both! I alternate between the two.
Hydroxycut doesn't work for me as a fat burner. It does make you more alert but it also gives you the jitters and a sudden crash later. I also tend to get heartburn from it so I will most likely not buy it again.
I like Cellucor Super HD as both a fat burner and to help with energy levels. All Jym products are amazing as they have precise amounts of ingredients for all of your workout needs.Last edited by Rules; 09-13-2014, 06:57 PM.Comment

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
The water/Vitamin Water/Gatorade/ bananas, tuna, noodles, salad, subway, occasional nuts and chocolate trail mix diet is working for me again.
It's not the healthiest diet, but it works for me for some reason. I had a few good workouts this week all ready and the Hydroxycut isn't giving me any weird side effects. It's giving me a little added energy sometimes, but not too much and I think it's actually helping me boost my metabolism a little (might just be in my mind, though).Comment

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Unless you're severely obese, 5lbs a week is not realistic. 9lbs in week one will most likely be due to water weight.I fell off the wagon this year guyz. Use this site to determine your appx caloric intake and adjust from there based on your goals..but again, unless you're extremely obese, 5lbs a week is simply not realistic or safe. That site also has helpful, easy to digest information.Comment

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
So I decided to take a De-Load week, where I lower the weights and drop the intensity just a bit for a week. To give my Central Nervous system, and Tendons/Ligaments a break from lifting.
Early in the week was going great but these past two days I've felt really weak, and lethargic. I actually had off from work and I ended up oversleeping, ate my breakfast, and all I wanted to do was go back to bed.
Think it might be some light Adrenal Fatigue symptoms. I also noticed some poor food choices start to creep back into my diet, so my plan is to cut those out and re-evaluate my Diet, cycle off of Caffeine for a week, bring back more greens, and veggies, and try to normalize my sleep schedule by going to bed earlier.
Planning on going back to My normal Training Schedule on Monday, hopefully I've made the necessary adjustments to get my Energy levels back.Last edited by Feared; 09-19-2014, 01:17 PM.Minnesota Vikings

Yeah, sounds like you were run down a bit. I'm sure the de-load week will help when you return to your regular schedule next week.So I decided to take a De-Load week, where I lower the weights and drop the intensity just a bit for a week. I'm 14 days away from my 10K. Training has been going well and I'm hoping all the hill work I've been doing since we moved will pay off on the flat course.Currently Playing:

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Finished the Spartan Beast World Championship for the 2nd time in just over 7 hours. Damn thing was 14.5 miles if pure torture. Numerous hikes to the peak of the mountain, hikes with sandbags and buckets filled with rocks, barbed wire crawls, swimming 200+yards in 60 degree water, and so on.
So much happier with my performance this year. Last year, my quads cramped up bad on every hike. This year, not once. We just kept trekking up the hills. My joints on the other hand...
Such a cool experience.Comment

I dream my fitness level, and conditioning could be at that point one day. What's the soreness/recovery like after doing one of these? Are you rubbing IcyCold on your joints, and soaking in an IceTub for 3 days after it? Or do you just deal with some aches and pains and normalize after a while?Minnesota Vikings

Pretty much just recover over time. The recovery is brutal, but I don't jump back into workouts until a few weeks after anyways.Grats on completing the event.

Basically a lot of hot/cold packs, foam rolling, and relaxation. Last year, I was still feeling it after a week, but we were much better prepared for the mountain this year, so hopefully recover time will be shorter this year.Comment

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Decided I'm going to cancel my membership at Gold's. Nothing wrong with the gym itself, just silly to pay money for something I'm not using. I've really gotten into running and biking, and would rather do either of those 2 activities than lift at this point.
Where we moved has a nice 2-car garage so what I'm going to do is buy 2-3 more kettlebells and do a couple of kettlebell-based workouts in each week.
At some point a gym membership may be in the plans, but for now, I'm happy with the current direction I'm wanting to go.Currently Playing:

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Got our official results from the Spartan Beast. Come to find out, the race was actually LONGER than I thought at right around 16 miles, which is two miles longer than last year, yet we finished 20 minutes faster at 7 hours and 38 minutes.
On top of that, we finished in the top 27% of racers out of 3700 total males that ran Saturday.
To say I'm pumped right now would be an understatement.
Here's a video someone filmed with a GoPro of the race of all of the obstacles. This doesn't remotely do the race justice as the monstrous hikes were the hardest parts.
