This leads up to another point, that this makes most matches feel repetitive. Unless of course you play matches between teams star rated 4 & under. Even then the gameplay in those start to feel stale. I’m either drawing, winning , or losing in a high scoring game (effecting my emersion). A few features have been added lately like player animations that may have seemed add something new to the game, but not enough. Still, there’s only two/three things to separate each matchup from each other. Work rates are a decent dynamic factor but are predictable, especially in lower game difficulties. Even w/ traits I can predict how a player w/ “flair” will dribble & make the tackle 8 of 10 times. Same w/ gk traits.
I’m aware of options like tactics/sliders & utilize both. Those two things can only revive the experience to certain points personally speaking. One thing I’ve though of is messing around w/ certainly attributes to try & take out a few animations for certain players, but I haven’t got a chance to experiment w/ it enough. What I think could work & would like to see is a tendency type feature. This sounds similar to traits which are in-game already but aren’t too similar. Instead of just having traits add something extra to them, maybe like the star ratings already used. Instead of flair, add notches that can be tweaked up to a level of 3/4 so that the A.I. doesn’t flat out commit to the same skills or L2/R2 dribbling every time. Players w/ notches set to 1 compared to others set to 4 would take less 1v1 dribbles than others. This would apply to other traits as well. The way traits are set up now to such an absolute rate get repetitive. If they added a full scale tendency/likeness script or setting behind the scenes not accessible off of PC versions that might be even better. I know that FIFA isn’t like other games so something on a smaller scale would likely have to do for now at least. Started getting a little off topic, but If anyone else has something to add to this I’m interested in more opinions.
