Quite a few changes listed and yet not a single change to how your AI teammates defend as a group or individually. I'm assuming defensive mids still won't do a thing while the CPU passes the ball around the periphery of your box for minutes at a time. If anything, it sounds like the focus of this update was making attacking even easier. Is that really the problem with this stagnant engine?

Too bad. I really liked how the game played slower and more defensive. You really had to be patient and tactical with your build up. I was getting more 1-0 1-1 and 2-1 games than ever before. Looks like they caved to the UT whiners again and we are going back to the days where every game has a 6-10 goal score line

They completely ruined this game after launch yet again. They finally had somewhat of midfield play happening for the first time in several iterations and now it’s all gone.

I wish they would just make a full arcade game at this point because I don’t think they’ll ever get it back to being an enjoyable game that leaned towards some realism with a bit of fun thrown in as well. Hasn’t been close to that in years.

The crazy part is this is what the majority of their fanbase wants. You go over to Reddit or the EA thread and they are celebrating this patch like Jesus was resurrected. You here things like “fifa is supposed to be arcade”, “I don’t want to play real football that’s not fun”, “I’d rather have games with 7 to 6 goals each because at least that’s fun”. Unfortunately this is the audience now. Sports games are dead.

Other than CFB 25 this was the only sports game this year that I could get the AI to give me an actual challenge without feeling like I was cheated. When I lost it actually felt right. I didn’t feel like the game was giving the CPU abilities I didn’t have to simulate a challenge. Don’t looks like CFB 25 is the only sports game I can actually have fun playing for the next few months until the show comes out.

This game feels unfathomably worse than it was pre-patch. Genuinely impressive.

That is definitely the major problem. While I do play FUT occasionally and have no problem with the FUT crowd, the EAFC team only catering to them and neglecting gameplay for the other modes killed this game. I get that people want to sprint and score 10 goals a game, but why add a “simulation mode” for offline players and then patch the game and completely ruin it.

Also I’d argue FIFA 15 was probably the best game in the series and that had a great balance of fun for Pro Clubs and realism offline. I think once they went to the new gameplay engine and tried to make it “more realistic”, there is actually too much going on overall and it focuses too much on 1v1 play, which then ruined any form of realistic play on the game.

I’d rather play eFootball at this point, another series that used to be great and is currently horrible. But the limited offline play is at least somewhat realistic since it doesn’t turn into a sprint and trick move completion.
