Agreed ZM. I think he still believes in his players and will stick with them, but he knows he needs a couple of players to be really set. For me, signing a big time keeper should be his No.1 Priority. As we've all said, Almunia is not the solution.

Fabianski makes too many errors to be considered elite and Mannone is a big question mark. We actually need a real keeper to compete and Wenger, I hope realizes that

The other thing we need is some strength and height. Chamakh would fit the bill nicely.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***

many things set arsenal apart from chelsea and manu. i think the most important thing that sets arsenal apart is that the FC is run as healthy, profitable business. chelsea is back by an oligarch and man u is swamped in debt. football clubs in england certainly took advantage of cheap credit, but arsenal showed restraint. it will take time and commitment from the young players and fans, but in 3 years when the average age is 25-26, if the team is intact it will be stellar. so i do not believe in "short term" fixes.

long term fixes are clear. most important is another CB to form a long partnership with t-vermalean. then we need depth at CB.

      then goal keeper.

mid field is strong. song and denilson will be our holders, and take your pick for attacking midfielders. ramsey was a huge set back, so maybe another need here.

up front, we need some height with bendtner. i do not think we have to worry too much about losing arshaving - he is 28 so only 3 years in him, max.

all in, i preach patience. we are doing it the right way.

What's the latest on William Gallas. Is he likely to leave on a Bosman Free this summer. Anyone else in your squad have an expiring contract this summer?

Merida to Atletico was thought to be agreed a few months back. Was this genuine?

It wasn't genuine, but he also hadn't signed an extension either. I think he's gone....too much competition for places in the midfield.

As for Gallas, I'm not sure. I'm not sure he's coming back either. Arsene hates players over 30 lol....

getting RvP back is almost like a new signing...

the biggest question facing arsenal isnt new signings, or even keeper...but, rather, what to do if cesc leaves?

With RVP back, I can't help but wonder how it will change the formation, or if we stay 4-3-3, where he'll go. Does he go back up top with Bendtner back on the right? I'm very curious indeed. Do we go with more of a 4-4-2?

Fugazi, I don't think Cesc is going anywhere this off-season...I'm not worried about that anymore. I think he'll eventually go back to Spain, but not for a year or so

Arsenal needed United to drop points and they did. Now they need Chelsea to lose.

Winning the league is still a long shot, but if Chelsea lose and we win out, Arsenal are League Champions.

However the end of the season sorts itself out, it's funny to think that Arsenal have a shot at winning the league when all the pundits had them struggling to place fourth at the beginning of the season.

You guys have been great vs the mid to bottom table teams but are 4-1-5 against the likes of:

                    Chelsea
                    Man U
                    Man City
                    Liverpool
                    Spurs
                    Villa

2 of those 4 wins are vs Pool and only 1 on the road. If Arsenal wins the league I will be pissed.

None of that matters though. Yes, they've been poor against some of the better teams, but if they win the league, it will be Chelsea and United's fault for not performing better against the weaker teams.

Take United yesterday. They dropped points against a team they should have easily beaten. And because they couldn't win, Chelsea is now in the driver's seat.

You act as if playing Blackburn at Ewood Park is an easy thing to do. The last time they lost at home was in December. And I believe only twice all season.

That is the beauty of the game and why I love the structure of league football, though. The table does not lie. Every year that Man United wins the league, all we hear about is how they pick up three points against the teams they're supposed to. That is how you win the league, not by beating the teams right next to you each time.

Would I love to beat Chelsea and Man United on the way to winning the league? Yes. However, by winning the league over them, we would've accomplished something far greater than just beating two teams out of 19.

Now, are we going to win the league? United just helped us out by dropping points at Blackburn, and Chelsea need two draws or a loss and a draw. It's unlikely, but I feel that if we win out, the league is ours.

My prediction; Chelsea stumble, but so do we, and we finish in second.

That's why the season is based on how you do against the other 13 teams as well as the 6 you mentioned. I would have loved for us to win against United and Chelsea too, but we didn't and if we don't win, that will be why...

Having said that, if we somehow win, great

Its certainly hasn't been an easy thing to do, but its a game United normally win and should have won.

I don't think there is any debating that.
