Which was my point. I suppose we disagree as to whether or not he should have played, but I think a full strength player in his place would have been beneficial to Arsenal's chances. Would they have won? Doubt it, but you never know.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
I don't think Fabregas should have played. They were essentially playing with 10 men from the start as he couldn't even move. While an admirable display, Arsenal better hope he didn't injure himself further. Do you guys think he plays on Saturday? He still looked a long way off, fitness-wise.Comment

I'm going to pull this over from the CL thread so as not to sabotage it...

I don't know if we'd sign a forward with the intention of having them play often, but I think Bendtner leaves in the Summer. He's never going to play as much as he thinks he should, and he's said multiple times he'd gladly go in the Summer. So it's just up to someone making an offer on him now.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
After the Barca game, I was a grumpy SOB so I haven't posted with my thoughts until now....
I thought the red card was harsh, but by the rules, it was right. Having said that, the ref barely called any fouls on Barca and Alves should have been booked for that tackle on Nasri. Having said that, even with 11 men, I still think Barca would have won - no shots on goal at all won't win many games. It would have been nice to see 11 v 11 though
Today's game is a statement game for us. If we can walk into OT and beat them, it will give the team some confidence in winning our league match against them too. Either way, we need a win to get the morale back up.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
Here we go. Huge game.
Squads:
Man Utd: Van der Sar, Brown, Smalling, Vidic, Evra, Rafael Da Silva, Gibson, O'Shea, Fabio Da Silva, Rooney, Hernandez. Subs: Kuszczak, Berbatov, Giggs, Scholes, Valencia, Obertan, King.
Arsenal: Almunia, Sagna, Koscielny, Djourou, Gibbs, Denilson, Diaby, Wilshere, Arshavin, van Persie, Nasri. Subs: Shea, Rosicky, Ramsey, Squillaci, Clichy, Eboue, Chamakh.
I would've rather saw Ramsey start in the non CDM role, but oh well. Also, no Bendtner at all? Injured?
Hopefully Arshavin can have a good game. I was going into this game before with a bad feeling, but after seeing our front three, I have a good feeling. Although, I still sense us giving up a PK. Oh well, we shall prevail. Hopefully.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
United's goal all started with the long pass from midfield and it was easily made because Denilson attempted to close down WAY too late. He's killing us. His lack of marking skills are extremely frustrating.
Other than that, I think if we keep poking away we'll get a goal, but doesn't mean we won't give up yet another. The half usually allows us to make some decent adjustments, so I expect us to come out attacking even more, if that's possible.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
What a sh*tty way for Djourou to het hurt.
The whiff by Rosicky in the 95' pretty much tells the story of Arsenals day.
WTF is Scholes doing and how is that not his 2nd yellow!!!!!!!!!!Last edited by jesmith29; 03-12-2011, 03:12 PM.'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'-Bill ShanklyComment

Either could've been a straight red. Both reckless and dangerous. Wenger was right earlier this year when he said the jokes about Scholes not knowing how to tackle are absurd and that really he has a darker side.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
I knew this game was trouble when BOTH Denilson and Diaby were in our center of midfield. We can usually manage if one of the two is out there but asking us to play with both is suicidal. Denilson was awful on the first goal but I still think there's blame on both Sagna and Koscielny. It's on Sagna for not tracking well enough and giving Chicharito the space to run into behind Djourou and then Koscielny just was lazy and ball watching to let Fabio, who is truly an outside back, slip in and pounce on the rebound. Shame on both of them and the rest of our team for thinking Denilson could do anything right. What irks me as well is that no one on our team is willing to make a run to open space for anyone else. We hold the ball on top of the 18 and theres never people making runs behind the defense and forcing them to either track or stay in their space and it's why we never get through. In the Barca win Arshavin was so open because RvP ran into the 6 with pace and dragged 3 defenders too deep in tracking him. We don't usually see this and it's terrible that for how good we are at passing, our players don't work for each other.Comment
