Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Well not a lot of teams are that interested in him and Wenger wants to get rid of him before the start of the season. I can honestly say he is handling the situation pretty well. RVP also shot Arsenal in the foot by releasing that stupid statement. With teams knowing that he wants to leave they are bidding for less and with his age, injury record, etc. I can't imagine many teams that are going to want to pay 20 million for him plus high wages; maybe Man City but they have to sell a few players before they make moves like that. Personally, I am over RVP if he decides to do a 180 and come back fine but if he wants to go so be it. I still think he handled this whole situation a bit prematurely.Comment

He/his agent purposely knew what they were attempting to do with that statement, which was force a transfer without asking for a transfer. It was a pretty sick attempt.
I still don't see him resigning a contract. Will he play a few games for us before leaving? Perhaps. Would I care if he did? Not really. We're moving on.Comment

I think teams are sitting back and waiting to be honest. The transfer window does not slam shut until the 31st.Comment

I was at work and was in a meeting this morning with a high-level MLS executive and he says, "Don't get me wrong, Arsene Wenger is a genius manager, but Arsenal will never win the BPL again". Everyone in the room nodded their heads in agreement. Then I realized neither will Liverpool and I felt your guys' pain. Pass the beer nuts.YNWA

Never? So, not only once Arsene leaves the club, but never? The club is so financially well run, that it won't have money issues anytime in the near future and will always be in a decent league position due to it's ability to spend enough money to do so.
Once the stadium debt is complete, the club will have even more money. Will they spend it on players? Most likely not, however, the club is set to be financially stable for years and years to come.
I think years down the road, we'll see the Man City model start to falter. It's only inevitable. It may take awhile, but I don't think in the future you'll have to be a billionaire to have a successful club. You'll need money, but you won't need a sugar daddy. The sport will ebb and flow and things will change from how they are now.
Does that mean Arsenal are going to win the league in the near future at all? Most likely not. I'm not saying that at all. The realistic supporters know how far away we are from accomplishing that.
What I am saying is that to make the proclamation that they'll never win the league again is unfounded, silly, and ignorant. They have too much history and are too well run to fall of the map. Therefore, they'll always be in striking distance. Will the club take the few steps that are needed to strike effectively? We don't know that, but the possibility will be there for the foreseeable future.
As for Liverpool, the same goes. The club has too much history at this point to make the same proclamation. I know, look at clubs like Leeds. That is the case of a poorly run club, which is not the same right now as Arsenal or Liverpool.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
That's the thing that people don't see. They just see us not winning because we don't pay oodles of cash for players. I agree that Wenger has been stubborn in the past and he realized it last year when we didn't properly replace Cesc and Nasri. I think Podolski and Cazorla are going to be solid additions with or without RvP.
Plus, IF we get Wilshere back as we hope in October, that's another boost for the club. As Kreb said, Arsenal are a well run football club. It's definitely harder to win when clubs overpay for players, but I still believe this club will be fine in the long term
On the RVP issue, he can go. Problem for him is that this is the best club for him in terms of playing time and stature. At Citeh, he'd be competing with 3 other strikers for PT. Man United might work, but they also have a lot of strikers. Juve? That seems fine, but Juve are a side that are losing money and I can't see them winning the CL anytime soon.
On another note, I sure hope we can bring in Nuri......Comment

Damn, dudes. Nuri might be on his way.
José Mourinho gives Real Madrid blessing to Nuri Sahin move to Arsenal
José Mourinho has told Arsenal he will not stand in the way of their attempt to sign the midfielder Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid on loan
This sounds pretty promising. Especially that if he does come, there is great potential he could stay.Comment

I work as a designer. It was an all-staff meeting within the office.
And let me tell you, this executive I'm speaking of is not even close to an idiot and is one of the smartest men in sports that I have had the pleasure of meeting.
This whole thing came up in regards to fair-play and tv rights in foreign leagues in comparison to MLS.YNWA
