Hell the reason the back four looked good last week is because of how well he played. Now can he do that week-in and week out and keep midfielders off of Carzola so he can create the magic he does and stay healthy.

If he does, we can have a really good and consistent season. I still say the reason Arsenal was so good in the early to mid 2000s was how good the back four and DMs were in addition to the creative quality. Pires, Bergkamp, Henry felt confident going forward because of the strength and steel at the back.
Don't forget about Gilberto Silva I always wanted another player like him to be brought into Arsenal. Wenger tried to mold Denilson into the role he played tried but he is no Gilberto Silva.

I would rather hear that than the crap about there not being any players good enough for Arsenal. At least they are finally being honest by saying they can't or won't compete. Something that most fans realized years ago. To me that is a step in the right direction.

On the specific topic of Diaby, he will not fill the Song void. He's personally said himself he can not/will not.

Diaby isn't playing the Song role right now. It's Arteta that is playing the DM role for this team. Seems like all the big clubs in England sans Man City are playing without a destroyer DM, so I'm not that worried about it, especially as long as we keep the team defensive intensity that we have shown so far.

This. And while Arteta may not be a destroyer DM, he has looked fantastic defensively. The whole team has. It's been a joy to watch players like Podolski tracking back defensivley to try and win the ball after they have lost possession, a breath of fresh air after the frustration that was players like Arshavin just standing there doing nothing after they had given away the ball.

Pretty sure a player has done this each year. As usual, can't blame them.

Especially about how while we expected RVP to go, Song was more of a surprise, so to not fill the void is a bit...yeah.

Diaby looked great for France against Finland, scored a winner. Arsenal fans lets keep our fingers crossed that he maintains this form, it is looking very promising for him!

Unfortunately he has already picked up an injury versus Finland. Hopefully the knock isn't a sign of things to come.

Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has picked up a knock while on international duty and is unlikely to figure for France against Belarus.

                          Wenger should have expected this.

I'd much rather see a "muscle problem" than other things.

Let's just hope he sits out tomorrow. He's been great, but we should be able to take care of Southampton without him.

Me neither. Hopefully he recovers quickly as he has been superb. For a guy who has missed practically the last couple of seasons playing 4 games in a row is going to take his toll.

That is what really bothers me. Even though he had a full preseason, he never should've been in that France squad. They should know that if they want the best out of him in he future, he'll need to take it easier than others.
