Dinos scored a hell of a goal this weekend, his first in the Bundesliga. I’m sure his move will be permanent next Summer, though.

I know nothing about him, but after reading a bit about him and looking at stats, I'm excited to see Tomiyasu play. Seems like a solid defensive signing. I hope we see him at RB, or even LCB in a three at the back system against Norwich.

At least the Arsenal women exist, two great goals today against Chelsea one by legend Vivianne Miedema, and one by Beth Mead. The last goal, also by Beth Mead seemed pretty clearly offside, but a 3-2 win is a 3-2 win!

Definitely offside, and would be even in the newer age of less absurd toenail VAR rulings...but oh well!

Something I love about Sambi is that he’s always looking forward. If several positions he’s gotten the ball, Xhaka would go straight back when pressured.

Sambi dribbled and tried to go forward first.

We would not be playing like this with Xhaka in the side. He slows down everything, and I hate knowing he’ll come right back in when he can.

I missed the match because of rugby, but I’m beyond the moon with the result.!

I might try and watch the second half tomorrow and I haven’t checked yet, but I assume the jumps align with the substitutions.

Norwich’s jumps are due to us pushing like hell for a goal, and they’re not awful going forward.

I did something I haven't done for quite a while yesterday—I rewatched part of the match. I watched the second half again, and here are my random takeaways in general.

No Xhaka: I don't care what anyone says, if you've watched enough Arsenal, it should be clear to you by now that the team attacks more fluidly and quickly when Xhaka is not playing. His insistence on slowing down play, passing sideways and to the back kills our attacks, and look no further than yesterday for evidence that it's as much the player as the manager. If you truly believe that Arteta wants Xhaka to play safe, but tells Sambi to let it rip...you're insane. Xhaka does what he does, plays safe and scared, and while there's a time for it, his insistence on doing so hurts the team so much. Yesterday made me dream about him being at Roma.

Sambi: He's already shown he has immense talent. The casualness that he moves the ball and hits the ball really stands out, and by that I mean that he doesn't seem like he's trying. He doesn't take several seconds to get the ball just right for one of his feet to hit it. He moves the ball quickly, and looks forward—love it.

AMN: Really glad to see him get a shot, and happy to see his versatility used again.

Tomiyasu: Beast in the air, and a defender who loves to defend, but is not afraid to get involved in the attack. Love this signing, even after one game. He's the right-sided Monreal.

ESR: I haven't seen someone at Arsenal run through midfield with the ball with as much tenacity as he does since Jack Wilshere. I adore what he brings to the side.

Partey: If anyone seriously wonders if our midfield has missed or needs him...go watch the second half. He's a huge difference maker, and definitely not the deep, defensive midfielder that so many assumed he'd be limited to. Not even close.

I missed the match due to youth soccer, but am delighted at reading your analysis.

So, yesterday was ugly, but it was three desperately needed points. I wasn't too fond of Odegaard playing deeper in the midfield, but it did seem to work at times. I wish we could've seen ESR on the left, Odegaard further forward, and Saka on the right. Yep, Pepe on the bench and brought on later to make a difference if needed. That would mean Sambi in midfield with Partey.

Something I did really like about yesterday was putting trust in Sambi + AMN to come in late in the game and see out the victory.

Also, Tomiyasu might be the most important signing we made this Summer, at least in terms of this season. His aerial presence is the best in the team, and his relentless workrate will rub off on his teammates.

Oh, it was also nice to be reminded why we all missed Gabriel so damn much. Young and raw, but easily our best center back.

Oh! Ramsdale was also great—love his energy and attitude, and willingness to get off his line unlike Leno.

Leno has saved us many times, but he’s never made me confident aerially.

Remember when everyone was like why are Arsenal spending so much on a backup keeper?! Then everyone who understood the situation explained that they were actually bringing in a new first choice for the future and possibly now? Yeah.

I agree he has a confidence about him that I feel Leno has been missing for a while now. Also I have not been impressed with Ben White these three games but it is still early days for him so I can't be too harsh. I just notice for someone who can read the game well he switches off way too often and have these lapses where he is just caught ball watching He hasn't been punished for it yet in the past two matches he played but he will have to be better against Tottenham because he will be targeted.

He very much seems like a defensive liability right now. I know at this point it won't happen, but I just wish we could see Gabriel + Saliba at the back.

Who knows, maybe the future is Gabriel — Saliba — White, but I doubt it.
