Great save onto the post by Cech from Coutinho. He's starting to show why he was bought. Liverpool should be 1-0 or 2-0 up though. They may rue those missed chances later on.

Yeah, that was a bad finish more than a good save.

Tight offside call on Ramsey's attempt.

Some of those passes that Arsenal had out of their own end....woof

But I've seen this movie before. Arsenal will put together 10 really good minutes and score 2 to win 2-0.

Pretty sure Mignolet tripped over Ox on purpose just make sure the ref stopped play there. Lame.

I don't want to be happy with a point at home no matter the opposition, but after that first half, I think I'll gladly take it this time.

Unlucky. Ramsey should have had a goal.

It was unlucky but that's a very tight call. You could just as easily say that Liverpool were unlucky to hit the post or unlucky that Cech played a blinder

But hitting the post isn't the result of referee error, as opposed to Arsenal having a goal wrongly disallowed.

The fact is, a draw was probably the most fair result given the performance of both teams, but a player hitting the post is in no-way comparable to the ref blowing a call that takes away a goal. In one, a player shoots just too far wide when he should have scored, or the defender gets there just in time to deflect the ball off the post, etc. In the other, a player does score, but the ref messes up and the goal doesn't count. One is way worse than the other.

So two games in a row Liverpool are on the better end of a bad offside call.

I wasn't saying hitting the post makes the offside decision ok, just that they are comparable because they both have an element of bad luck.

There is a whole weird stigma with the word luck. They say that in order to be successful at anything you need equal parts talent/hard work/luck. Successful people play down the luck part because they feel it devalues their success. It definitely doesn't devalue it, but you still need it.

So yes it was bad luck that the offside call went against you, but at the same time, the way your team was playing in the first half, they were very lucky to not be down 2 or 3 goals. There was definitely an element of luck in Petr making that save, hell, I've personally seen him fail to make that save.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry, Arsenal will get some ridiculous calls in their favor later in the season that will result in points gained.

So, the moral of the story is: let's scrap the linesman in favour of FIFA (EA Sports version) because FIFA gets that gawdamned offside call right every time.
