Draw/fade shots ea pga
Could someone explain how to do. Does swing need to be exactly on swing path? Example it slants right, i need to have it exactly over line slanting rt. I always have it next to path, never directly over it, if that makes sense

Re: Draw/fade shots ea pga
Just like a straight shot it only matters where you hit your points on the edges of the swing circle and not what happens in the middle
So for a draw/fade try to hit that 5 or 7 o'clock on the back swing Crest and then straight to 12pm at the finish. Run a practice swing or 2 to use the controller vibration (or lack thereof if you are in sync) and you should be nailing them. If you want to up the challenge turn off the swing arc. -

Also if your dumb like me, I thought it was backwards. The little arrow that breaks off your landing zone is where I thought the ball would go but it's the opposite. The landing zone is the same just your aim is the little arrow that breaks off.
Kinda weird imo that your landing zone camera doesn't move at all when you add fade or draw. You'd think the camera would follow where you are aiming.
I got it down now though and I'm actually really enjoying the shot shaping mechanic2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

I really want EA to show some commitment to improving Simulation play. Very little focus in competition play since release, I think it’s one seasonal 18 hole event the rest is Arcade,Pro & Tour on a daily/weekly loop.
I did hit this in that sim event….
Play Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) on Xbox.com. Use your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership to play 100s of consoles games on PC and supported mobile devices.
Which shouldn’t be happening on the highest difficulty in the first few days of play.
Going forward compulsory Advanced shot shaping needs to be a staple of Sim play.
Fade bias golfers should be shaping every shot on the diagonal although I do think the plane line needs to be more forgiving. Also either lock 6 to 12 swings off with the exception of putting or make the 6 to 12 swing plane a ‘substantial challenge’. Also if you’ve chosen a fade bias a draw shot also needs to be a ‘substantial challenge’.
EA have the option to make a Simulation tournament with these settings & drop it in to weekly’s on an unlimited play basis for test purposes. Really want to see them proactively putting testing in the hands of gamers but not sure we’ll get what we want.
Advanced shot shaping doesn’t really have a purpose as is because it’s to easy to go flag hunting with a straight swing.Comment

RIFRIG, I hear you! There are some real advocates for challenging (based on skill) sim play that are bending ears at EA. Patience, as there is hopefully something coming that will be addressing the realism-minded end of the spectrum of play. No promises or ETA but it is absolutely on the table.Comment

You have to turn off the shot shaping in settings, then you can just move aiming stick left or right, but you swing straight. Much easier!Comment

There is actually a built in forgiveness on advanced shot shaping plane on the easy & normal difficulties that favours your golfer’s preferred shape already.
Easy was a bit too forgiving but I switched to normal swing difficulty & it’s reasonably well balanced already. If EA can just lock that 6-12 plane off or make it a real challenge the game will be great.
Playing 3 & 4 at Pebble with a fade bias pro:-
Play Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) on Xbox.com. Use your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership to play 100s of consoles games on PC and supported mobile devices.
I shape every shot & it’s a real engaging game.
Need a draw on 3rd tee so that was challenging as the video shows (check plane line forgiveness between fade & draw) & then play safe with a fade to the centre of the green. Also noticed better distance control on your golfers preferred shape.
On the 4th tee I’m deciding a power drive is my shot with a fade to try & hit the green but due to the extra power the swing plane is reduced so there’s some great risk reward there.
I shot +3 for the 18 holes & I really earned that score, much like TW14 but adding the challenge of shot shaping for ALL shots.
Another challenge is the switch up from shot shaping to putting, I’m finding that the putter is going of plane now if I don’t have a practice swing to groove that 6-12 plane again.Last edited by RIFRIG; 04-13-2023, 02:40 PM.Comment

In reality no player hits a straight ball, they play either a draw or fade.Comment

Well call me stupid for not noticing but I have only played on hard swing difficulty from the outset so what I’ve seen today was kind of hidden.

This might be the way to play for a challenge, forcing every shot to have a shape as your own rule. I hate playing a career and hitting every fairway and green. I tried doing this on the hardest difficulty and it was really tough, but it looks like normal has a good balance.Comment

I think the shot shaping in this game is mostly fun and rewarding, the swing path is different than Rory or TW14 and I understand from some that it's a bit awkward for a control stick, but after using it half the time I think it's just something to get used to. But there are problems I see like shaping with approach shot types being a bit too punishing when you're off tempo or swing plane (I might have to double-check this, maybe it's too punishing for a low-level golfer compared to on drives) and on short shot types I often get a rumble even if I'm pulling back at the correct angle.
It's good that they're adding difficulty like turning off the putting meter, and advanced shot shaping would be another great step. I also feel like we need a fifth difficulty, I never really understood why simulation doesn't have the hardest settings like no swing meter or no green grid that we have to enable ourselves. The hardest difficulty in these games should be the hardest settings period (minus no wind or elevation indicator cause that's a bit too much imo).NCAA: Georgia Bulldogs and Clemson Tigers
