    Tiger Woods 2005 question

I have just got TWPGA2005, and have been playing it quite a bit over the past two weeks. My profile guy was playing really horribly, and even when I played with Tiger Woods I wasn't that great, though occasionally I would make an awesome shot, or one that I actually intended to.

I played the first two rounds of my very first pga season tourney, however, and my profile guy, who's highest rating in any category is 60, and who only has two or three modifiers of 4, is leading the field by 3-4 shots. I went -4 at Couer d'Alene in the first round, and -7 the next day.

Did I miss something? How is my mediocre guy playing so well? Is it ALWAYS gonna be this easy? I have never been able to get birdies at the rate I get them now. I only bogie if I hit the water or out of bounds.

Have you unlocked TOUR difficulty yet? Are you using it?

That sounds about right if you are playing on default difficulty.

I saw this idead on another board. On your profile guy, don't max out your Attributes all the way. Pick a % that your are going to cap them at and just rely more on the different level of equipment. He also suggested playing on Tour Difficulty once you unlock it. I play with it ON all the time. Makes sinking putts more gratifying.

I am going to try this myself. True, there are some courses that if you just stay on the fairways and hit a good second shot, you are in good shape because the greens are flat as the highway... On the otherhand, There are some courses where if your attributes are at a minimal level and you have to rely more on the equipment and your course management... You will be throwing your controller on the floor alot...

For some, the game becomes real easy quickly and they get bored. There are ways though to make the game challenging for you... Just have to show some restraint...

            Just my two cents...

Tour mode is cool minus the putting....there's no possible way of seeing if the putt is up or down hill....really lame if you ask me. If they put Outlaw Golf 2's putting on Tiger woods you'd have a great game. As it is, we're left with two games that are average at best.

In Tour mode, I use the dotted line to be my guide on that. If the line falls below the hole, I know I am putting uphill. If it goes past it... downhill putt. Also use the chip grid to get the "lay" of the green...

Good call, I'll give it a try tonight. Couple things I didn't really think about.

This has been my experience also. I smoked the competition at Couer d'Alene, but keep in mind the fairways are huge and the greens are flat which make a big difference in game difficulty.
The second tour event was a little more difficult. I was actually challenged and won by only a stroke.
The third event I was lucky to place in the top 20.
The Westen Open fourth event was fun. I found it hard to stay in the hunt. Finally, on the last day I played the round of a lifetime and won by 3 strokes.

Now I am on the Greek Isle tournament. Impossible so far. On four tries I cant break par (I also can't beat the 'Temptress' Nicholas challenge on the same course).

My strategy has been to alternate between tournaments and Legend challenges. I have earning enough money to rachet up my skills a little at a time (which are all at about 87%). My clubs are all maxed out for modifiers.

I am curious to the techniques/strategy some of you are using for club selection. I'm experiencing some inconsistency on shot length (especially on downhill Par 3's). When teeing off on a downhill Par 3. I am either over or undershooting the green. Does anyone use the powerboost when teeing off from an elevated position? or is that too much? Do you use the caddie-suggested club?

Also, in regards to the clubs. Has anyone seen a difference in club quality between brands (even if both clubs modifieres are all maxed out)? For instance, is a Cleveland Golf 4-star power driver any better than the EA Sports 4-star driver (even if they both cost $200,000)?

Let me know what everyone thinks. I'm interested in your opinions.
