    Offline tourneys (360/ps3) ... ugh

I'm glad they finally fixed the offline tourney rubberband AI thing, but unfortunately now it's nearly impossible to make a damned cut.

Just finished a round at Torrey Pines.

Wind was unreal - 30 mph. In other words, shooting par would have been a miracle for a duffer like me. I accept that I suck at this game. And, as promised, I finished with a miraculous +17.

Here's my issue - only four players out of 144 shot over par in round one!!!

Hell, four shot even par, there were a ton of players who shot a 65 or lower.

With these wind conditions and at a long course like Torrey Pines, this is stupid. The tourney leader shot a 60 in these conditions and the 2nd place guys (three) shot 61s.

A 60 on a normal day on an easy course is a great score. A 60 at Torrey Pines with these wind conditions is pretty much impossible.

What the heck were you guys thinking when you set the computer AI up like this?

Is weather even a factor at all for the computer opponents?

    Geez.

It seems after years and years of making this game EA has the inability to make proper AI scoring in career mode when it should be the easiest thing to do. I wish they realized they were ******** with this so they would give us an AI slider.

I hate to use the word ******** as I would not want to offend anyone. The reality is they don't care!!! I agree with your post. Did they test the AI scoring? Yes. Did they realize that it was whacked as hell. Yes. Do they care? No. Do they want us to believe they care. Of course. EA is full of BS. Ok I feel better now. Still like the game

I still like the game too, but I wish stuff like this didn't get through.
No one shoots a 60 at Torrey Pines in 30 mph winds.
I know the developers care about the game, but I just don't think they actually play these games as fans.
When four of 144 golfers shoot over par in a tourney when the wind is 30 mph and at 7600-yard Torrey Pines, alarm bells should go off. Sadly, they didn't.

I completely agree with the preceding comments. The offline tournaments are marginally better this year, but they fall far short of all the pre-launch hype.

I keep reading these comments about the offline tournaments and I don't get that with my copy. I've been playing the heck out of career mode and I'm getting pretty realistic scores out of the field. Last night I played a tournament at Pebble Beach and the cut was set at +1. So half the field shot +1 or worse. Maybe its the level you guys are playing or something. I'm playing on Tour Pro on the 360 with Live weather. I really like the career mode this year and feel like its pretty challenging. If I get hot I can shoot 68,69ish but I can also choke and shoot over par. It feels pretty good when I can get in contention. It's not impossible but it's not easy either, thats how it should be.

The biggest problem I have this year are the unrealistic scores on the Live Tournaments. I really hope that can fix this somehow.

            Just my $.02

That the Wii version? It has an adjustable CPU scoring option. The tourney-winning scores I'm seeing on the 360 version aren't as low either (-15, -20), but I'm not coming close to contending, so the CPU isn't shooting as low.

No, its the 360 version. I don't usually shoot very low, but I've gotten hot a couple of times and been in contention and the scores have stayed pretty realistic.

I'm playing the ps3 version, and although I haven't played my PGA career too much, the little I have played it the scores all seemed pretty realistic. I just missed the cut at the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines, but the winning score was -17. Maybe a little low, but too far from realistic for me.

I have seen some realistic scores (-17 to -28 total for a tourney), but some are ridiculous, and Tiger Woods is usually the one who shoots them.

In another thread, I mentioned that he won the San Diego Tournament (which I simmed) with a score of -42.

Also, Anthony Kim won the U.S. Open (known for it's difficult playing conditions) with a -29. Way too low, considering Ricky Barnes became something like the fourth golfer all-time to reach a score of double-digit under par this year at Bethpage. In my season, almost the entire post-cut field was in double-digits under par.
