According to ESPN, Tiger Woods was injured in a car crash this morning. According to CNN TV, he has already been released from the hospital.

"ORLANDO, Fla. -- Tiger Woods has been seriously injured in a car wreck in Florida, authorities said Friday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 2:25 a.m. ET. Woods was driving a 2009 Cadillac sport utility vehicle.

The police report narrative said the "driver had just pulled out of the driveway at his residence ... as [vehicle] began to drive on Deacon Circle, [vehicle] struck a fire hydrant. The front of [vehicle] then struck a tree..."

Woods was taken to Health Central Hospital. His condition was not immediately known, though the news release said his injuries were serious."

There was no alcohol involved apparently.

Also, his airbags did not deploy so that means he was going slower than 33 mph.

Maybe he fell asleep?

I hope he didn't have a heart attack or something similar. The only other news I heard was that the car wasn't going more than 30 mph (and no air bags released) and that it wasn't alcohol related. The only thing I can think of (considering all we know) is that he had some other sort of medical problem while driving that caused him to crash. I can't imagine how else he'd be in serious condition.

It's under investigation... there may not be any charges. He did crash into the tree in his neighbor's lawn so maybe that's what they're investigating charges for. Or maybe they hadn't determined that there was no alcohol involved when they made that original statement.

Obviously I don't know enough about the accident to say why they were considering charges.

This link that mentions info from the Florida Highway Patrol says alcohol was not a factor. This all seems weird though.

Hmm, I wonder if he was wearing a seatbelt? Facial lacerations on an accident under 33 mph.

That's my uneducated guess.

Plus, that would explain charges. You can get a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt.
