Definitely get some lessons if you can. I think most of us that never got lessons can attest on how hard it is to get out of bad habits once they set in. Otherwise, a cheap set from the marketplace or something and even just getting out for 9 holes a week will do wonders to your improvement.

Personally, I like a nice empty course to practice on, trying to snag the last tee time of the day will let you get 9 holes in at your own pace and you can play 2 or 3 balls without worrying about holding anybody up or needing to let anyone play through. Most public courses will also give you a pretty nice discount after a certain time during the week, so it's an added bonus of not hurting the wallet too much

With the newborn at home I probably won't get out as much as I did last year. Counted my scorecards the other day before putting them away and I was over 30 rounds and that doesn't include all the scrambles and outings I played in.

But we're taking her to my parents house down in Maryland tomorrow which is great because my mom wants to spend some time with her and as long as the weather cooperates I get to go golfing Friday with my dad.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Got my tee times lined up for the next 3 weekend. Masters weekend I’m going down to my buddy’s club just outside of DC and playing a bunch.

Ended up finishing the season with a 31.6 handicap. Low was a 27.4 and high was a 43.8 when I first started carding rounds.

What a fun and therapeutic game.

The OS Golfer's Thread!

Ended up reshafting my entire bag again. Look at some numbers and realized I’m 100 percent a regular flex instead of a stiff.

Arccos data showed a 30 plus handicapper drives the ball about 200 yards on average. Also confirmed that I should be playing 5200-5400 yards.

Anyway, I ended up goin from True Temper XP 95 stiff to the Aerotech Steelfiber Graphite in 70 degrees in my irons, Ventus Blue 6R in my 3 wood, Ventus Blue 5R in my driver, Mitsubishi Tensei Blue 65 Regular in my 4 hybrid (new club), and Project X Riptide CB 5.0 50G in my 5 and 7 woods.

100% agreement with all of the above. Best advice you're gonna get on the Interwebs.

I put Ventus Red on my driver, and I like it a ton. It's significantly less spinny and my numbers are better across the board. I've also gone to graphites on my irons; not sure why I waited so long, but has made a big difference for me in my iron distances, ball flights, and spin rates.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Got my next golf trip planned on the books. Labor day weekend, heading back to Whistling Straits, and playing Blackwolf Run River Course the second day. Taking three buddies who've never played them before. So it should be a hell of a time.
