What clubs are you playing with?

I'm interested to find out what clubs people are playing with. Especially, putters! My Grandmother gave me a Ping putter for my 18th birthday (I'm turning 39 in March) many years ago. I still love it, however I'm looking at buying the TaylorMade Ghost putter.

As for my clubs, I'm playing with TaylorMade R11, stiff shaft driver and TaylorMade Burner 2.0 irons, with regular flex (4 to PW). For my birthday my wife is giving me the R11 rescue club and SW.

I absolutely love my clubs, and being that this will be my second season with them, I'm hoping for even more success with them. Also, I find the 2.0's very forgiving. The ball explodes off of the face with amazing trajectory.

I have 1 "huge" brand name golf club in my bag..haha (unless you consider the maker of my irons a "huge" brand name)

I'll take you down through my clubs, in order


Driver - a red Top Flite Driver that a father of one of my basketball players GAVE me. Great driver. I ended up having to spend about $10 on it to re-grip it, but I just used some tennis grip.

3 Wood - a Knight 3 wood from Wal-Mart that I bought at least 6 years ago (it's been the most consistent club in my bag since that time)

5 Wood - a Northwestern 5 wood that my uncle gave me. The only fairway wood (besides a hybrid that I used to own) that I've ever owned that I can actually hit out of the fairway.

3 Iron through 8 Iron - Mizuno, that my grandma found out a garage sale a few years back.

9 Iron - Dunlop, from a set of irons that my mom found at a garage sale a few years back.

Pitching Wedge - I honestly don't know the maker of my pitching wedge, but it's a nice club that I found at Goodwill several months ago when I went to donate some clothes. I loved the way it felt, and it was only $3, so I bought it. I hit really well with it.

Sand Wedge - Knight. Bought it at Wal-Mart the same day I bought my 3 wood, and a hybrid that I had until it got destroyed in a wreck my buddy was in while my clubs were in his car.

Putter - a PING putter that a former boss of mine gave me. It's a little small, but I love it, as it makes me lean over and putt sort of like Jack Nicklaus, and I'm very consistent with it. My last outing, though, I used a Ram putter that I bought at Wal-Mart the same day I bought the other clubs.


If I can ever afford it, I'm going to try to find a full set of new irons, as the ones I use are classic models. The only problem I have with newer irons, is the graphite shafts; I suck with graphite shafted irons. Have to use steel.

My old set had graphite shaft. After a few years the started snapping off just above the head of the club. I broke my 3 and 5 iron.

Before that I had Walter Hogan blades and actual woods (1 through 5) that my grandfather left for me. I was 10! I still have them. Clubs have come a long way, however they will never replace the sound of hitting a ball on the screws!

4 & 5 Hybrids: Cleveland Hibore
Irons, (3,5,7-SW): Taylor Made RAC OS
Putter: PING, not sure the model, but I love it.

I did have a 60 degree Cleveland Wedge, but I'm just not a big fan.
I'm going to get new hybrids this summer and maybe a 3 Wood. These irons are now 7 years old, so I may get some new irons if I can buy them and not tell the wife.

Actually I have a Titelist 910 D2 Driver. I absolutely LOVE it!

I still play my old set of Ping Eye 2's I got used back in 1990.... May be one of the best sets ever made... Driver and putter varies... but I also have a wooden 4 wood from the 80's that I hit 230 dead down the middle every time... One of the best feelings in golf is hitting a wooden wood flush..... You will either have to kill me or the club will have to break for me to stop using it

Irons: Adams tight lies (hoping to finally upgrade soon for spring)
Wedges: Titleist 48, 52, 58
Putter: Scotty Cameron Kombi (best money I ever spent the feel is exactly the right weight IMO)
