What if can't gold master course?

I'm thinking about getting this... But what happens if I'm not able to gold mastery some courses? Will I be able to use "coins" to unlock a course for unlimited use?

You use coins to play rounds on the course. You only get unlimited use of the course if you master it.

For the most part, mastering a course from the objectives I've seen should be a matter of when, not if. A lot of the goals are cumulative things so you'll do them eventually if you play the course enough.

you will after time... it isn't what you are thinking, you have to get 100 holes par or better, 50 birdies 5 eagles, 60 GIR's, 60 FIR's, etc... something like that... It may take some longer but the more you play it, the more of a chance to master it.

Did course mastery change then or something? Because last year it looked like this...

Similar except it is much easier and there are less objectives. You only have to play like 6-7 rounds to get gold on a course.

This isn't entirely true. You could play 20 rds on a course and if you don't meet the requirements you won't be rewarded with Course Mastery. For those who are looking for a challenge and don't dumb the game down you could possibly encounter well over 6 rds to get the Mastery label. Even worse if you are playing the harder difficulties with a lowly rated golfer.

I was playing on Tour Pro with pro golfers and it took like 7 rounds for gold at Kiawah Island this was with the season ticket. It will probably take longer if your playing with your CAG. I highly doubt it would take 20 rounds for one course no matter how your golfer is rated. For some of the objectives like the eagle ones you can just go to play now and just select the par 5's for the course you need eagle's on.

What does Course Mastery affect? Is it like in TW12 that only your caddy turns better? Because I rarely use my caddy ...
Also, I played a few rounds on my XBox with a friend yesterday - and I didn't achieve any course mastery objects (although I played a pretty good round). Can I only improve my mastery by playing my career (alone) or competing online?

For the purpose of mastering a course to open unlimited rounds, just choose the play now option, set to red tees, easy greens, etc. if you are having trouble... Why keep using coins for a course when it is as easy as just saying "screw it, I will play the easiest game imaginable to ensure I get it"... If you play at higher levels (I play Tour Pro), just set it back to amateur a round or two and score like a 50 on a par 72... It is your game, but I just can't fathom using the coins to buy more rounds if I am that close and keep struggling to get it... Only one of the 12 I have mastered so far this year (had since last week) I had to play more than 6 rounds and that was Augusta, and I had to suck up my pride and make a change in my settings, despite it being unlocked, because I didn't want to spend more time on it than I needed to...

Yes playing career alone (though you can play any mode), is where I have got a good start in the mastring of courses, you will have to play two additional rounds to get it... You probably got some of the objectives and didn't realize it, it blends in with your XP in the top right corner when you sink a birdie, drive long or something...

You don't have to play career. I don't know about playing multiplayer but I've completed mastery goals in both standard quickplay (I was playing single player) and participating in online country club tournaments.
