All I can say is thank God. People who remember my rants from the Ryder Cup this year know that my biggest beef with Davis Love III was that he was too close the current players and left off other worthy members to put guys he was cool with on the team including the embarassement of putting Jim Furyk on the US squad. In Ryder Cups, experience is very overrated and useless if the only experience is losing. I hope Tom goes with younger guys and starts to move away from the players of Tiger's era.

I thought DL3 did a pretty damn good job as Ryder Cup Captain, but his players just flat out didn't bring it on Sunday when it mattered most. Any time a team has that big of a lead going into Ryder Cup Sunday, the captain has done a pretty good job. People can sit back and second guess all they want, but everyone was praising the guy heading into Sunday. I would have liked to see Fowler or Mahan on the team, but they played very poorly down the stretch and didn't really have a beef with being left off. In the end, I'm not blaming this past loss on the captain. It was frustrating to watch, but the players just didn't get the job done. And on the other hand, the Euros hit some great shots and made some unbelievable putts the last couple hours too.

As far as Tom Watson goes, there isn't a better choice out there other than possibly Paul Azinger. If was choosing, I'd pick Azinger every time possible. But Watson should do a pretty good job, and it will be interesting to see how a captain who isn't out on the PGA Tour very often does with the team. That's definitely a bit different than it's been the last 15 or so years.
