Re: The Golf Club - Course Creator Tutorial: Creating A Hole & New Screenshots

While this wasn't the focus of this particular video, what really caught my attention came at about 1:50 into the video. We see a swing feedback meter for the first time in The Golf Club. It showed a miniscule swing path error that resulted in an unintended draw, which ultimately was responsible for the tee shot going into the left fairway bunker WOOT WOOT!!

Notice also that the swing power percentage was 99%, and that barely perceptible swing path error resulted in a shot going out of control enough to find a hazard!? Might this quell the paranoia about a non-diagonal swing mechanic being too easy, just a smidgen? I know it's just a morsel, but it's definitely another sign that they're serious about the "feel" of the swing.Last edited by OnlookerDelay; 02-20-2014, 10:41 AM.Duke Football? Re: The Golf Club - Course Creator Tutorial: Creating A Hole & New Screenshots

They're not the best animations I've seen, but they at least look workable. One of the producer's admitted today that they're showing some weakness and that they're going to be getting some more work done with with the animations over the next couple of weeks, but they're not going to have a library of thousands of animations. What I'm hoping is that the golfer models at least feel like more than a glorified swing meter. I want feel some torsional physics at work when I "swing" the club/stick. I saw what I thought was a slight hint of that in today's video, but it's something I'll really have to feel.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Yes it has been - One of the developers were talking about an early course they created called the "Pit" and joked about how high the tee and green were, compared to the fairway - hence the name.Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

I knew it was something crazy. I am excited because I want to create Banff Springs and Wolf Creek, so the higher elevations are an obvious need.Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

This video shows how they make some subtle elevation changes:

Re: The Golf Club - Course Creator Tutorial: Creating A Hole & New Screenshots

That's the one thing that's stood out as awkward with this game so far from the footage I've watched. I'm not sure I'll get this game, or if I'll wait for EA Sports' next golf game. It's clear they've put a ton of work into the game though, and a lot of hardcore golf gamers are going to enjoy it. I'm much more into the PGA Tour-style career mode kind of game, but that's just my preference. I'm just not sure I'll be getting a next-gen system quite yet.Comment
