I have not played any of the golf club games but what in the heck is speedtrees?

It's an asset suite of optimized trees and vegetation that developers of any type of game that uses them can license and use in their games. They supposedly take load off the graphics processor the way they are created and generated.

It all sounds good but I’m kinda disappointed that they’re releasing a new game so soon and idk how I feel about them seemingly moving to an annual release model.

Here's what I think happened concerning your comment... HB Studios knows that TGC 2 isn't what they want it to be and they'd liked to have updated it via a couple more patches. Their publisher, Maximum Games, was not as willing to submit and pay for these updates to Microsoft and Sony, so HB Studios looks bad for leaving TGC 2 in the bugged state it's in. HB Studios decided to let their contract with Maximum Games run its 3 year course and then terminated their relationship with them.

Now (as of March) HB Studios is free to do what they want with it now that they're self-publishing again. They decided that TGC 2 is too far into its market presence to justify the cost of bringing up to where they'd wanted to take it early last Fall, so they launched into a new game to address the growing demand for real time multiplayer and expanded game type options, knowing their current non XBox Live/PS Plus requiring engine couldn't support it. They had to create a new game to make that, and other needed upgrades happen.

Did they do the right thing? As one who was desiring the level of multiplayer support TG 2019 will have, I say yes. I support their decision to go forth with a new core game that will address a number of other issues an update to TGC 2 wouldn't have been able to support.

As I understand it, Maximum Games owns the relationships with Sony and MS to update or not update TGC2. That is not something HB Studios has to worry about any longer now that they are back to self-publishing.

TGC2019 would not be happening now, if ever had they not severed the relationship with Maximum Games.
