Re: Ottawa Senators Dynasty (NHL 09)

Ottawa Rallys In The Third Period To Beat Kings/Boston

Whitney hasn't played many games with us, but he has already made an impact.

Highlights v. Los Angeles
1. O'Sullivan scores early on the powerplay.
2. Laperriere misses the net on a chance to tie it.
3. Spezza ties it in the beginning of the third.
4. Kovalchuck scores on a one-timer on a powerplay.
5. Hedjuk ices the game with an empty netter.

Highlights v. Boston
1. Setoguchi takes advantage of a delayed penalty to open up scoring season.
2. Sturm and Kessel score to put Boston up 2-1.
3. Kovalchuck ties it up to end the first.
4. Alfredsson scores. It was pretty routine.
5. Setoguchi scores on Spezza shot. (Rebound)

GM's Thoughts: Our offense didn't really get going until third period in the first game. It worries me, but it is the most explosive offense in the league, so I'll deal with it. Elliot made some good saves, but let in some questionable goals (Tucker's). Sturm's goal was a product of over aggressiveness, which usually isn't a problem. Either way, we played well, which is usually good enough.

AHL Trade: (Offered by NYI)

Ottawa
Jesse Winchester

New York Islanders
Jeremy Colliton

GM's Thoughts: I basically made this trade based off of stats; Colliton's were better. He is a bit older and more experienced and thus will help our AHL affiliate, and maybe be brought up one day. We wish Wincester the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Re: Ottawa Senators Dynasty (NHL 09)

Ottawa Wins Twice Convincingly Over Buffalo

Milan Hedjuk is doing well for Ottawa.

Highlights v. Buffalo (1)
1. Vermette pushes it through the five hole of Miller to make it 2-0.
2. Foligno scores off of a one-timer from Hedjuk.
3. Ruutu scores on Miller through a screen. Miller is pulled.
4. Spezza dekes out the new goalie to make it 5-0.
5. Foligno scores on another one-timer from Hedjuk.

Highlights v. Buffalo (2)
1. Spezza shoots at the net and a Buffalo D-man puts it in...
2. Vermette top shelves a shot.
3. Hedjuk scores on a wrap around.
4. Kotalik dekes out Brodeur to make it 3-1.
5. Kovalchuck finishes it with an empty netter.

GM's Thoughts: Everything seemd to go our way against Buffalo. Miller is a solid goalie, but he had a bad day the first day. We took advantage of the worst defense in the east and scored a lot. They also took a lot of penalties. Although we didn't score any powerplay goals, we were able to dominate the puck. If we played this good all the time, we will easily win the cup.

Re: Ottawa Senators Dynasty (NHL 09)

Ottawa Runs Wild, Eats A Cheesesteak

Elliot has been playing great in net as of late.

Highlights v. Philadelphia
1. Kovalchuck intercepts an attempted dump and scores on the powerplay.
2. Alfredsson makes use of traffic and scores.
3. Zetterberg hits the crossbar.
4. Setoguchi dekes out the goalie and puts it in.
5. Gagne snipes a shot past Elliot.
Bonus: Alfredsson scores on a one-timer from Heatley.

Highlights v. Minnesota
1. Spezza hits the post.
2. Heatley scores on the wrap around mid-way through the second.
3. Foligno makes use of a bad line change and knocks one bast Backstrom.
4. Elliot fails to contain a pass, I score on my own net.
5. Alfredsson scores on the powerplay.

GM's Thoughts: First off, I would like to apologize to Alex Auld for the scoring in your own net buisness. I realize now, that the commissioner made it impossible for goalies to be passed to. The game against Philly was not as physicals as I expected. Their players seemed worn out, and we took advantage of that fact. Gagne got a bit lucky with his goal, it probably should not have gone in. Either way Elliot played well in both games and had a technical shutout against Minnesota. The Wlid's defense was not there at all and as long as we concentrated on Gaborik, their shots were kept to a minimum. We did dominate the puck, a result of their bad defense. It would have been 11-1 if it wasn't for Backstrom's great saves. We actually saw former Wild player Brent Burns playing for Philadelphia, which may explain something (like why they got rid of Colburn). It's also been good to see the results of the wrap around regiment recentally implemented; we've scored a few times because of it.
