 Home-Coming of Kolzig  Well, it's only been a short while, but Caps fans all around Washington can once again welcome back goaltender Olaf Kolzig to the Washington Capitals, but this time, under different circumstances. Olaf Kolzig signed as a free agent with the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2008 off-season, but was recently put on waivers by the Toronto Maple Leafs, as the Lightning traded him later in the off-season. General Manager Jason Skyland had this to say about his recent signing: "Great now I've got two good goalies, I was always aiming to have a one-two punch in between the pipes".

But I think we were unlucky and not completely horrible this season. When everything was great (from a lightnings fan view) we were six points out of playoffs with 32 games remaining... To a Bolts fan this looks like a sure playoff spot, and I think we could of got it, Smith was on fire and our defense was great and our offense was progressive. Jan 30, everything went wrong Smith was out for the season and Ramo's good but to young to be a starter, he couldnt handle the pressure to well. Our defense got hurt and we pretty much had a farm team Defense for the rest of the season... One game Ramo had to stop 47 shots.... So if we can stay away from stupid trades and the iinjury bug next season we may actually see some playoffs!! |
