Ryan Miller makes 19 saves for his first shutout of the season

BUFFALO, NY - With the help of Ryan Miller, Chris Drury and Maxim Afinogenov, the Buffalo Sabres shutdown the second seeded Ottawa Senators 3-0. The win marks Buffalo's fourth of the year and their first at home.

Yet, again after another scoreless twenty minutes of play, Buffalo started the scoring in the second period. Thomas Vanek made it 1-0 half way into the frame. Four minutes later, Chris Drury scored his sixth of the season to give Buffalo the 2-0 lead.

In the third period, Jochen Hecht added a goal with eight minutes to go in the game. Ryan Miller made 19 saves for his first shutout of his struggling season, as Martin Gerber made 29 saves in net for Ottawa.

Buffalo signs Swede winger

The Buffalo Sabres have agreed terms with and have signed right winger Per Aslund to a two year contract. The amount is disclosed.

Per Aslund will join the club in the minors with the Portland Pirates.

An offer sheet was also sent out to Juha Alaslalo, which was later rejected.

Buffalo makes late comeback

BUFFALO, NY - The man of the night Thomas Vanek had a pair of goals in the third period as the Buffalo Sabres picked up their fifth win, fourth in a row, with a 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lighting.

The first forty minutes was a defensive battle. Both teams were deadlocked at zeros until the third period. Martin St. Louis with a powerplay goal gave Tampa Bay the first goal and lead of the game. On an attempted poke check, Toni Lydman accidently put the puck in his own net.

Thomas Vanek tied the game at one, with a shorthanded goal mid way through the period. He then added his second of the game with thirty five seconds left of the clock.

Ryan Miller made 19 saves, and Olaf Kolzig turned away 37 shots.

Well I was fine about giving up Lupul, I was on the fence about giving up Sbisa, and personally I think the 2 first rounders were an overpayment, but hey if he can help us clear the crease I'm all for it!
