Re: NHL 11 GM summit

Okay guys, I simmed my pre season. I loaded my roster with all my up coming talent, the only NHL player on it was kyle turris..

This years pre season was 4 games in which I went 1-3-0

Notable stats were

Goals:
Niederreiter: 3
Skinner: 2
Turris: 2
De hann: 1
Suglabov:1

Assists:
Watson: 4
Turris: 3
De hann: 2
Niederreiter: 1
Skinner: 1
Aulie: 1
Svensson: 1

Points:
Turris: 5
Niederreiter: 4
Watson: 4
De hann: 3
Skinner: 3
Suglabov: 2
Aulie: 1
Svensson: 1

After overviewing my franchise I decided to bring in three more veteran free agents to fill gaps that I felt my prospects were not ready to fill

Sign:
D Jan Hejda - 1 year @ 1.820M per season
81 OVR (DFD) C/C/C POT 33 years old

Sign:
C Michal Handzus - 1 year @ 1.385M per season
81 OVR (TWF) C-/C-/C- POT 34 years old

Sign:
C Jason Arnott - 1 year @ 595K per season
83 OVR (PWF) D/D/D- POT 36 years old

Line one

LD (OFD) D. Doughty (88) RD (DFD) M. Komisarek (84)

A nice offseaon with your team, I liked the trade that got Edmonton's first rounder. It inspired me to do the same, I looked for the team with the worst record in the league(Detroit!), and traded a RW(80 something rating) a 5th and a 7th for their first and a scrub player. Thanks for the idea.

Thanks man. that first rounder neted me an A- overall OFD, who is running my first pairing on the marlies this year. hes 6'3" 198 LBS 69 OVR. Next year I hope to bring him up to the NHL.

Excellent offseason. I can't believe you were able to obtain the services of Doughty and trade for Tuukka, you should feel very accomplished.

After your first season, it's very nice to see your team looking much better. Plus, despite losing your next three first round picks, you had a solid draft, and getting Tuukka Rask makes the Leafs very scary.

Re: NHL 11 GM summit

So I played my first game last night against Chicago and destroyed them 6-2.

the team felt so different. It was like the guys chose their spots and attacked, my first line was a threat every shift they logged, and my D core was solid top 2 to bottom 6. Tuukka turned aside 27 or so shots, Doughty put up 4 assists and Parise put two in the net, kane added one kessel snapped one in, selanne tipped in a wicked east, west glide to screen tip. and Turris blew a slap shot past the goalie before he could react.

Chicago seemed to be flat, they put one powerplay goal in, on a very sweet forehand back hand forehand stick to skate to stick deke by Toews that left Rask feeling dizzy and on the ice. and one shot that squeezed over his shoulder. I kept most of thier shots from the outside and my D men kept the front of the net clear of pucks and traffic.

Everyone played a very simple and effective game with effort. I could not have asked more out of anyone beyond what they gave. Very nice start!

Re: NHL 11 GM summit

The goaltending seems to already be paying off, and a 6-2 win against a good team is a omen that good things are coming, or you switched the difficulty to Rookie (just kidding!)

Doughty was solid. Worth the three first round picks, eh?
