November Update

Young Grachev Leads Rangers to Better November

Grachev helped the Rangers to a 9-6-1 record in the month of November.

-Sage Froinker

Young Evgeny Grachev was said when he was called into GM Rigernaz's office earlier in the season, he knew that this was bad news. He had been sent down to Hartford to star the season, but he went down there and dominated. He posted 6 goals and 6 assists in 11 games down there thus earning his call-up on November 3rd when the big club was struggling.

Head Coach John Tortorella instantly inserted him to the top line with Brandon Dubinsky and Marian Gaborik. He has posted 4 goals and 9 assists in 15 games. It's truly been a great month for him and helped the Rangers to a much better November slowly climbing up the ranks of the Eastern Conference. There's still a chance to make the playoffs as the Rangers currently find themselves only 1 point out of a playoff spot.

There was many other transactions that happened over the month. First off, Grachev was called up. LW Aaron Voros was waived and claimed by Dallas. The Rangers were able to strike a trade to obtain D Vladimir Mihalik (playing in the AHL) and D David Hale in exchange for LW Brodie Dupont, LW Justin Soryal, and a 2013 5th round draft pick. David Hale has been playing some time on the 3rd pairing at the NHL level, but has recently been spelled by the signing of Mathieu Schneider. He was brought in to bolster the Ranger's league worst power-play. Other veterans that were signed were LW Raffi Torres and C Manny Malhotra. Malhotra has been great on the PK and slotted in well with as the 3rd line center role. Torres started on the 4th line, but has recently been bumped to the 2nd line after many great games. Andrew Cogliano was also picked up off waivers and the Rangers hope that he can turn it around this time after not posting a goal all year yet to date, but obtained a young asset for next to nothing.

The last couple of moves were to clear out bodies for the incoming ones, LW Sean Avery was sent to the Ducks in exchange for a 2011 3rd round pick and C Brian Boyle was sent to the Avalanche for a 2011 3rd round pick also. GM Rigernaz has not been afraid to make changes, but now he must hope that some chemistry develops and they can continue to play well.

I always like to see what I can get for a very highly rated goalie, but then I realized Lundqvsit was 28, so I'm not trading him. I love Gabby and hate him (I'm a Wild fan). He is good in this game, so I need him otherwise no one else can score seriously, although Grachev has been so good for it's crazy.

I was able to get rid of Redden and Rozsival off waivers so thats $11.5M off the books, I'm looking forward to next year's FA crop headlined by Thornton, Chara, Parise, Richards, and Koivu. I'm really hoping I can nab a high profile player in that time. I have quite a few picks now, so I may have to just sell off a couple of vets to try to restock, I had a good draft last year, but I think I need some more young talent coming in. I'm only 1 point out of a playoff spot, so there's a chance that I make the playoffs.

I can appreciate loving a player.. :-) Good work in restocking your trade board, it will help either at the TDL in Mar or come draft day.

With 56 games left I`m sure you will make the playoffs. God luck with January.

Great example of how a call-up can spark your offense great work with the FA additions, I like it. Good luck for the rest of the season, there's plenty of time to secure a playoff spot.

BTW, what is going on with Nash sensational numbers with Filatov on the other wing.

Yeah, I was thinking of trying for a 2nd for Avery, but figured I can't have enough picks especially relatively early. I think that I'll either try to move up, or if I'm doing better at the deadline, I can package them for a higher-rated player. Like I said, it's a big FA period coming up next year, so maybe I'll try to get ahead of the curve.

I think I should be able to make the playoffs, but the goals are super hard to come by, I've changed my strategies and I'm out-shooting other teams by a lot, the goals just aren't coming.

Thanks for reading! I really appreciate it. Yeah, I just had to do something, add some more speed, better faceoff guys. The good part is I have a lot of cap space, but I'll have a ton of FA's at the end of this year though.

Nash and Filatov are doing great, but the team isn't doing so hot in the standings, but there seems to be barely any separation between the best teams and worst teams in terms of points.

Thats how it always seems. Teams are too close in regards to ratings.

Re: New York Rangers - NHL 11 BEAGM

Rangers Have Mediocre December, Gaborik on Fire

Gaborik scored 15 goals in 12 games this month.

-Sage Froinker

The Rangers this month went 6-6-0, but a lot of that was thanks to Marian Gaborik who is officially listed as hot. He scored 5 goals in a 12-1 rout of the New York Islanders on December 27th.

There was also a lot more movement as GM Rigernaz continues to make his mark on the team. Here's an updated look at the moves that happened to the Rangers.

NYR gets D Brad Stuart

in exchange for

DET gets C Andrew Cogliano, and 2011 3rd Round Pick (COL)

NYR gets RW Steve Bernier, and 2011 2nd Round Pick (VAN)

in exchange for

VAN gets D Daniel Girardi, and 2011 4th Round Pick (NYR)

NYR gets C Claude Giroux

in exchange for

PHI gets RW Ryan Callahan, and 2011 3rd Round Pick (ANA)

I talked to GM Rigernaz yesterday, and he hopes to not have to keep moving people, but will pull the trigger if he thinks there is a deal to be struck. The most likely next spot for a deal will be at the trade deadline to acquire more picks or to upgrade the team in any way possible.

Re: New York Rangers - NHL 11 BEAGM

Went a little bit different way with my updates, less photos.

It was taking a little too long to do my updates, so I'd rather just stick to text, but most of the same information is displayed.

I plan on doing league leaders at the end of the year along with standings then too.
